Preseason is not a time for good football. But if you know what you're looking for, you can find rookies getting a chance to fill a notch that teams need filled. Even after the draft and several weeks of free agency there are deficiencies that need filled. Now it's time for the Cowboys to evaluate available veterans out there with a skill set that we are otherwise lacking and sign them. By this time, the price is right.
Exactly it's not about the game itself it's not about the score who wins or who loses this is about football's back and we get to look for the little things from the young players rookies second and third year players you're looking on the field for positive things or some people are looking for negative but just like the coaching staff we need these preseason games to get an idea of what our young players look like....

Just hoping the injury bug stays away this season.
The injury bug has already struck and the season is still weeks away. If only a huge can of RAID could put the injury bug permanent out of our misery.

August is certainly better than June and July for sure. But I'll take October over all the months, Fall weather, NFL in full swing, MLB playoffs, NBA and NHL right around the corner, Spooky season, etc.

This time of year is torture for me. Yes, its nice that there is some version of football going on, but there is nothing at stake so it's just not the same. Its like going to a gentlemans club and can look but not touch....except two of the dancers are holding out for more money, the manager talks in cliches the whole time, and all your loudest friends have terrible opinions that make no sense.

Too bad you let it affect you so much that you’ve become so bitter. I don’t get it, but you do you.

It's not bitterness I just love the competitiveness of the game. Right now everything is controlled, simulated, and highly opinionated. The real fun begins when the score actually means something.

Well you’re missing out and also staying uninformed by not paying attention to training camp. Also, you’re missing out on the fun.

Preseason is for the fans.
Not really. Preseason is a terrible product for the fans for a variety of reasons. Teams are running very basic playbooks on both sides of the ball. No team is giving anything away.

Preseason is for fringe roster guys who want a spot and the couches and scouts to evaluate.

Regular season is for the fans.

How about intensity level? Sometimes people who seem to know the most.
Know the least.
You are correct. Playing a water down preseaon game with maybe 3 defensive coverages against rookies and UDF is in year 4 for a QB is going to tell us a lot.

I agree with you 100%.

However, we have fans that are so excited to see Trance play. Thinking when he does well in this controlled environment that it will prove that he is our next starting QB.

Meanwhile Trance will not play in the regular season. Wasting another year of him not being developed.

I love watching the young guys fight for their lives in preseason games. Living their dream.
