It's amazing what one season can do in terms of optimism

Did anybody really think that we were Superbowl bound this year?

I didn't.

On the flip side I didn't think we would totally implode either. :explode:

Early on I was hoping this would be the year but as the season progressed, I didn't see the things one sees on a championshi[p team , in fact, I didn't see a team and gave up any Super Bowl hopes in early December, for the umpteenth time.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

It's not my problem to solve, it's Jerry Jones' problem.

If the team attitude, determination and desire aren't there, the talent level doesn't mean much. It's hard to motivate people who already have what they wanted (money).

It's those who don't have it yet who work harder for it.

I'm sorry but I dont subscribe to that theory at all.

Maybe I'm the only one, but I just cant get on for the idea that we're all doom and gloom from here on out.

I highly doubt we see another season like this one. Whether or not we win a SB is to be seen. But I will bet that we are at least contending for them.

I am officially off the doom and gloom bandwagon for now.

I want to try and stay objective and see what we do. I want to see if JJ really CAN change a few things going forward.

Since our season ended, there are 2 things that I DO like.

1. We got rid of Read and hopefully hired a really GOOD STs coach.

2. I think we're going to improve team chemistry via "addition by subtraction" - i.e., Tank, etc.

It's very, very early in the process, so I'm just going to take a wait and see approach the next few months and then make a more educated guess on the direction we're heading.

After the Giants eliminated us from the playoffs, we were all very disappointed but most thought we'd be capable of making a Super Bowl run in 2008.

After this year, most of us think we are going to implode next year.

The extremes . . . .

Maybe the outcome lies somewhere in between.

We're not a Super Bowl calibre team right now, in my opinion, with all of our issues.

But, if we can cut a few bad apples (which we're in the process of doing), not sustain as many injuries as last year, upgrade our Special Teams (which should occur), form some type of identity on offense (more balanced offense) - which should lead to fewer turnovers . . . .

we could at least be a playoff team.

We'll be lucky to make the playoffs next year with the great unfocused 67 million dollar anointed one at the helm.

Some serious soul searching has to take place (with a little help from Jerry) if Romo is to get over the post November doldrums. If you don't understand that then consider yourself eternally baffled.

I look at it this way?

Did Cardinals fans think they'd be here after going 8-8?
Did Carolina after going 7-9?
How about Baltimore after going 5-11?

It's a year to year league, and looking at our personnel you habe to think we are playooff contenders in 2009.

None of those teams have to deal with the Jerry circus either. But besides that, you have a point.

I hope one of the changes JJ is talking about is at least letting the team focus on football rather than TV promos.

I really DO think that this off-season is going to be much more intense in terms of the way practices are run, the hitting and tackling, and the work on technique.

Also, I don't see JJ going after questionable characters in 2009. I think he'll look more for "team oriented" guys - for the 2009 season, at least. Probably more 2nd tier talent guys who fit in the team concept better.

Now, in 2010 all bets are off. :)

I think the real shame of it is, when this team had a 13-3 record and a first round bye, it didn't take advantage of an opportunity that doesn't come along very often. I regretted that playoff loss to the Giants...even more so after this past season...I hope that's not a pattern.

Same here. We pissed a golden opportunity down our leg.

I just keep telling myself every year is a new one and every team is different...

And all that jazz.

Recent history of the current NFL suggests there's sometimes no real meaning to trends, no momentum built up over the course of a few seasons or even that much carryover from one year to the next.

With that said, I'd much rather not be having to hang our hat on the notion that, "Well, other teams have gone from bad to good overnight. Why can't we?" I guess I'll have to make do with that, but I do wish there was a little more substance to our hopes of legitimately improving next season and getting back to where we thought we would be this season.

Dallas needs a new leader... By that I mean a strong head coach who's credentials will merit respect throughout the locker room.

Bill Cowher or Mike Shanahan will do just fine.

I don't think we have a bad team in terms of talent on the team we rank right up there with the best the problem is the attitude, from the top down it's crap. They're just to damn soft and half the time they look like they don't even care

Exactly.

The problem is not talent guys, we have a freaking probowler at every dam postion almost.

The problem is that it seems that alot of these guys are more worried about their personal stats than if the team actually wins or not.

That is the problem that has to be fixed, not adding even more star players in free agency or anything.
