Glad to see Brian Roberts back

REAL good, Brian plays the game the right way... now, get Tejada's bat into the lineup, and get Markakis back, and let the weather get hot, and watch this offense take off...

Then again, they scored 12 tonight, so maybe it's already starting to take off... I'm obviously glad to have the W, but it was bittersweet, in that it came against former Oriole Erik Bedard... I always liked him...

I think Roberts is exactly what was missing from this line up. A perfect Lead off guy.

I'm just hoping for a resurgence from Jamie Moyer lol

Not sure who will be available, but I hope were players in the trade market for a starting pitcher, if that happens, my optimism will be far less cautious

A one hitter for Josh Hammel tonight, and now the Birds are 8-3 over their last 11 games... like I said, is there any way we could play the rest of our schedule against the National League??

Brian Roberts went 2 for 3, drove in 3 runs, and is now hitting .318 early in his comeback...

The Yankmees are getting hot, but after a brief stretch of disappointing play, the Orioles are playing good ball again... after this game, 40 per cent of the season is done, and the O's are on pace to win 95 games...

I didn't expect anything like this going into the season, I honestly didn't think they'd be a .500 team... naturally, I'm shickled titless to be wrong...

What they've done so far has been just short of amazing.

It's nice see some teams like the Orioles, Pirates and Nationals making some headway this year.

Not sure about the Orioles ability to hang with NY for the rest of the season, but who knows?

This year, Yankee pitching doesn't scare me that much... besides, we don't necessarily have to hang with them, at this point we're atop the Wild Card standings...

Gimme 90 wins and a playoff appearance this year, and I'm a happy Bear...

At this point, it will almost be an injustice if the Orioles don't have three players on the All-Star team-- catcher Matt Wieters, OF Adam Jones and RP Jim Johnson... the latter makes it in both as a representative of the major league leading low ERA for a bullpen, and for 20 saves (in 21 chances)... his 1.21 ERA is icing on the cake...

Yankees pitching has sustained a lot of injuries this season with Mario Rivera gone early Michael Pineda ( a pitcher the Yankees were heavily counting on) gone before the season even started. Robertson, Rivera's replacement out and recently returning to the lineup and Chamberlain also gone, the Yankees have some serious issues on their pitching staff and it's still really early. It's going to be tough for the Yanks to fight through this for the rest of the season. Hopefully, Robertson will hold up and Chamberlain will be able to return but I don't know. The Yankees starting rotation currently consists of Sabathia, Kuroda, Hughes, Pettitte and Nova. Kuroda is a bit up and down. He doesn't have electric stuff but he's getting the job done. Yankees are giving run support so that helps. Hughes is all over the place. He's not consistent at all IMO. Nova looks great in the W/L column but his ERA is not great. He's another guy who is getting great run support. Pettitte is looking good but that's Andy Pettitte. He will give you everything he has but he's not a young man anymore. He will go for as long as he can go and then he will drop off. Don't get me started on relief pitching or closers.

I just think the Yankees will either have to continue to swing a live bat all seasons long or they will have to probably acquire some pitching. At the end of the day, I believe that strong pitching beats good hitting. I hope we get some guys back. I hope we see David Aardsma come back and contribute, I hope we see Chamberlain come back, I hope we see more consistency out of Hughs and I hope we do go out and find another pitcher but right now, I would not be worried long term about the Yankees either.

At least to start the season the Yanks pitching wasn't knocking my socks off either, but check this out for June...

Yankees Starters in June

ERA

Opp BA

Ivan Nova

0.79

.203

Phil Hughes

1.69

.208

Andy Pettitte

1.77

.169

Hiroki Kuroda

1.80

.236

CC Sabathia

3.86

.294

When CC Sabathia is your "worst" starting pitcher... Now that says something.

The Yankees starters are posting the best AL ERA in the month of June.

Looking at those guys it would seem logical to say that dont keep that up or anywhere close to that. But who knows.
