the OL, the QB and defense. looka t NE. who do they have at RB? WR? but they just laid 45 on the jets who are one of the better defenses in the league. before we call it a fluke they laid 39 on the steelers. they have one true viable WR and that's welker. and danny woodhead who?

Atlanta really has Roddy White and although turner is good, their OL is awsome. keeps Ryan upright and gives them a chance to win it at the end.

Look at Ravens and you see a great defense, a tiny RB and bunch of older WRs and a possession WR. yet they are in it every week and every year. what I would give for their OL.

SD is doing it all season with rivers a great OL and 3rd and 4th string WRs and back up RB who use to be a fullback.

even Indy, who is 6-6 mostly because of their defense is still scoring and they got injuries at reciver coming out the wazoo and a bunch of no name RBs.

what's a ferrari good for, if its got a Geo Metro engine and your neighbours 14 year old kid as the driver. the engine is the OL, the driver is the QB.

get those fixed and we see championships.

I would trade Austin or Dez for two top notch OL men. I know people would hate me for this. but that's how you win championships. not by how shiny your car looks. but how it runs.

Either they can't develop OL or they are just poor talent evaluators. Too many OL draft picks that became busts over the years. James Marten and Robert Brewster being the most recent. I know Brewster is apparently a "project" from a small school but you don't draft projects in the 3rd round. Btw, Vasquez, the starting guard for SD, is someone we could have chosen over Brewster in the 3rd.

Um... are you saying Romo is a problem? Is he that "14 year old kid"?

They did hit on Free though. Gotta give them that. And Gurode if you go back further.

The negatives far outweigh the positives. Thy have sucked at picking olinemen, but you can't point out the bad without at least mentioning the good.

Flozell, too. And we were rebuilding, I thought, until we lost Flo.

You don't watch much football if you don't know who the Patriots have at WR. They have several viable receivers....just because you don't know their names....I'd be willing to bet that Patriots fans have little idea who Choice is, and hell, at this point...they probably don't know who Dez is either. They're just under the radar.....something that's inherently harder to do if you don the star.

Quick! Who are the Patriots top 3 WR's and top RB?! Don't peek! :D

Deion Branch, Wes Welker, and number 19 (I think his name is Ben Tate).

RB: Ben Jarvus Green Ellis (the man who has never fumbled in the national football league

Nice job. Its Brandon Tate, but the others are correct. Angel Hernandez has more catches than Tate, but i didn't clarify that very well ha. Anyway, aside from Branch and Welker, these are some names that i bet a good number of football fans might not recognize. Hernandez is a rookie and Tate is seeing his first extended action since he was drafted.

Green-Ellis, Woodhead.

Can't forget Woodhead haha. He's been like Wes Welker V 2.0. Crazy little guy out there.

Interesting some guys knew it but i didn't see tomson get it. :D

The point was that its not like all the Pats receivers are household names. Branch and Welker yes.. the others you have to watch and follow the other teams to know anything about them.

It's Aaron hernandez not Angel he is from the Florida gators good player

I have to agree with the OP. I agree it takes quality at the skill position, but he is exactly right about the effect of the OL. I watched the NE/NYJ game, and play after play, the NE OL just manhandled the Jets defensive front.

In the past, I've seen when the Cowboys offense succeeded and when they failed. There are a lot of factors to taken into account, but the common denominator to me is the OL. The play call can be fantastic, but one or two guys miss their block, and it gets blown up. The opposite can also be said.

Thing is, depending on when they pick in the draft, I don't know if there will be an OL worth going after - at least in the first round. Hopefully, we'll get a couple of upgrades in FA, whether it be someone like Mankins or a couple of 2nd tier guys.

Its cliche.. but a good majority of the time, games really are won in the trenches. This shouldn't be more obvious to any other fans, after seeing where poor OL play and lack of a pass rush or ability to stop the run has gotten us this season. We need upgrades aplenty in these two departments.

no, my point is that we have a lot of shiny stuff, nice spoiler, red color, (Austin, Dez, Williams, Felix), but unless we fix the engine (the OL) we aren't going to get anywhere.

Romo is a good driver. maybe not the best, but he can certainly win it. fix he OL and you will see a completely different team

It's won in the trenches: protect the QB, and get to the QB, and you'll win more often than not.

they have Wes Welker and deion branch...woo hoo....its tom brady and the OL that makes it work. put branch here (as he was in Seattle) and he is average at best. its Tom Brady that makes them look great.

and to your point. who is choice? choice, felix and barber are so over rated by the cowboys fans.

but the point is I would trade austin or dez for two top OL men any day of the week. you don't need to be three deep at WR or RB to be a good team.

we have spent a lot of money, high draft picks on WRs and RBs. the result hasn't been exactly anything to write home about.

if we would have spent the same on OL men, we would be 8-4 instead of 4-8

think about it we have 3 first round picks at WR and RB

Felix
RW
Dez

I would have loved to spend two of them on OL men.

it's more than lineman or any other players--it's also schemes--last year we outcoached a few teams (especially Philly) but this year under Bum Jr. we were very predictable and outschemed almost every week
