News: It's official: Cowboys vs Eagles in NFL Opener

F the Igglets!

PS: Aim for that loser Jalen Hurts' knees and take him out early. Teach him a lesson for being a disrespectful jerk and embarrassing Texas!

PSS: Sorry for sounding so mean. I'm in a lot of pain. This "c" is killing me. Thinking of the Igglets and their loser QB upsets me. Apologies to everyone. Just letting off pain. Double apologies to everyone.

Because,............

This is a discussion forum, not an opinion poll. Perhaps you would care to provide some type of rational explanation as to why you came to this conclusion.

For example:

I theorized that injuries will play an important role in who wins.

That's because last season, the Cowboys played the first Eagles game without their starting QB who was 2nd place in votes for NFL MVP just the previous season.

They were also without their starting LT as well as his primary backup.

They were also without their 1st team All-Pro CB and his replacement was a rookie 5th round draft pick

In addition, they played without three their top four DE's and the WR2 was also missing.

You might then respond with facts that question whether or not that would make a difference.

For example:

Well, Plasticman, you made several brilliant points.....as usual.

However, you failed to mention that the Eagles also had some injury challenges of their own. Although they played, A.J. Brown, Darius Slay and Jalen Hurts were limited due to their own injuries.

Do you see how that works?

Now you try it......
Here is the thing though: that starting LT was bad last year, as in one of the 2-3 worst starting LTs in football. That “all pro CB” has looked like anything but that since that year.

Right now the Cowboys are about 5 high end starters away from having a roster on their level.

1 - The season is measured by what you do in the post season, not the first game of the season.

2 - If the cowboys win, this place will be filled of dreamers believing the cowboys will win the super bowl baby!

3 - Per the post season in 4 years Hurts has a total of 6 wins vs 3 loses, appearing in two super bowls, winning one of them. Prescott in the post season in 9 years, has a record of 2 wins vs 5 loses, never making it to the super bowl. If Hurts is a loser, Dak should have won at least 4 super bowls by now!

4 - Please see #1. I honestly believe the cowboys will finally get past their post season blues, but it won't be until the GM is given full control of the team and the GM isn't the owner of the same team.

I love #2

Now official. Cowboys will open at Filly on Thurs, Sept. 4th.

We will know a lot about our new and hopefully improved Cowboys right off the bat.
I like this because I always want to be measured by the best. Nothing would be sweeter than spoiling their banner raising night.

I would have preferred a few games, to get in sync first, but we'll see how it goes.

Roger has never forgiven Jerry
Goodell? He LOATHES Jerry. That's why the Commanders and Cowboys were the only teams fined during the 2010 lockout when everyone was front-loading contracts. Source: Todd Williams himself when I had some beers with him.

Yeah, the NFL likes to put a reigning champ like the Philadelphia Eagles in the season opener, but we know this is all about the Cowboys drawing power.

And what better way to open the season than to play spoiler and remind the Eagles that they will always be Dallas' little brother. At least that's what we will all be hoping for.

While we wait to see what today brings, let's take a spin around the web and check out some of the headlines making waves online and on social media.

The nightmare however is in #1

In the last 25 years we're 5-13 in the postseason.

Reality is if we win the first game this year, it will be a good win, but it's not the entire season.
Update one's calendar. Prescott, with a bad official call, is 2 for five in his career in the Post Season, starting with a 13 win rookie season and three consecutive 12 win seasons. Get currently more realistic.

Cowboys key to beating Eagles in Week 1 centers around this Prescott advantage over Hurts

Position group after position group the Eagles look like the superior team on paper with the Cowboys only arguably looking stronger at the quarterback, special teams and defensive end spots.

Season opener on the road in Philly! Gotta love it! Couldn’t ask for a meaner bunch of birds to maul so early!

I don’t see where this opening is being given its proper recognition. This will signal our season for the rest of the year. Our “year defining” game comes right out of the gate in our first.

If we lose in our usual lackluster way then we long suffering fans are going to suffer even longer as we take our usual place among the mediocre as a non-factor in the powers of the league for the rest of the season. But, if we win? Or if we lose in a tight back and forth NFC-East shootout, we will have signaled our presence to the NFL that we are here to kick some ***!

This is the Fan Zone and fans are hopelessly optimistic. I predict that we will prevail on opening night then blaze a trail of glory through the league well into the playoffs. But first we have to come out of Philly with our Stetson still on. THAT is a tall order.
We fans tend to over-value the opening game as if it is the predictor of the whole season. Truthfully it’s just one game. It’s 1/17th of what this season will be and may or may not be any indicator of what’s to come. Teams develop over a long season and are rarely what they appear to be early on.

Take last year. We faced a browns team that was coming off a playoff season and was picked to do even better in 2024. We beat them in one of our best games of the season. But it was certainly not a predictor of things to come.

I like that we are getting tested early and I’m excited to see how we stack up with the defending champs. A win is certainly possible. And a loss is not the end of the season.

It’s just one game.

It's our sb. Lol

I hope they know enough to kick.

Cowboys leaders will be challenged according to acquiringGeorge Pickens.

The change to be a superior team has been added to this team, now.

That fact is on the plate for both Jerry Jones and his whole support staff, now! Thing here is, this IS in the present already and that has to watched, not prejudged.

Not completely...being prepared and carry the focus through. This is a war and be prepared. Disciplined already as a team. Then, baptism of fire.

Can you provide the asterisks on that game with the bad call? Surely it must be noted.
