Yea why not. I was never crazy about Allen or Melton. As far as I'm concerned lets just sign another 2 or 3 young ends and tackles, pick up some guys in the draft and go from there. This defense was never going to be rebuilt in one off season.

I'm torn. On one hand, I think that adding guys like Allen and Melton and a heavy focus on defense in the draft could get you CLOSE to middle of the pack, say, just below average but not an abomination. That could be enough to compete as long as the offense is healthy. On the other hand, even with a heavy focus on the draft, without two free agent DL players of Melton and Allen's caliber, this team will probably be looking at a top 10 pick in 2015 and a fresh start all around. I'm not sure which of those is better.

I do not see a lot of difference. I would as soon not feel compelled to get into a "bidding war" with anybody over him.
Hopefully he signs with Cincinnati today and we can "move on to the next on the list".

Robert Ayers sucks but at least he isnt getting in drunken bar fights or deciding he would rather not show up to meetings or practice like some of the other RKG bozos we are after and have already signed.

I don't understand the Allen hate. Dude has been rock solid and is only 31 years old. A two or three year deal would have been good for this team. Our defense was one of the worst in NFL history this past season and we have got worse so far in the off season. Do y'all just want to keep sucking for another 18 years? Do you want your grand kids to see the team win a playoff game? Melton and Allen should have been signed and JJ most likely blew it!!!!

I agree with your conclusion. The problem is we aren't very good at drafting either so forget the playoff games anytime soon and
just get used to sucking. I see the Campo years coming back in a nightmare movie so buy your tickets now!!!
