I wish I could make this a poll but what do you think would happen if we ran the ball 65-70% of the time instead of passing the ball 80% of the time?

Personally I believe we would get more out of our pass but remain stable with the run. Think about it for a minute because what we are doing now with our passing game is merely padding stats against the lesser teams. The whole #1 ranked offense is an illusion. I'm sure Garrett would never try it but it would be nice to try to establish a run game just to see what the three headed monster can do but please for the love of OJ, can we try something other than the draw?

Since Wade and Garrett took over this team has been in a pattern. We dominate most of the weaker teams which inflates our stats giving the illusion that all is well but then we struggle or lose against teams with a decent or solid defense. And December comes and we are still running those same stat padding plays but losing. Passing more is clearly not the answer.

Romo can only get pressured, knocked down, and sacked so many times and then he starts to make mistakes. I was hoping this would be the year our talent could over come the pattern but when we struggled to put up points against Philly I saw the pattern coming back. I can't believe how many of you can't see this pattern. Passing 70% of the game is not the answer folks, let's try running. It's actually our strength if we set it up correctly...

Jason Garrett is a boy wonder.
I'm on the Wade Phillips bandwagon.
Roy Williams had OVER 100 yards receiving.
80-20 pass to run is a good ratio in Madden.
The Cowboys ONLY lost by 10.

I don't see any problems. All is well.

We definetely should've ran more yesterday but make no mistake this is a passing league.

The spread offense of College football has made an impact on the NFL and its just become more of a passing league.

Your top NFL teams throw the ball all around the lot now days.

If anything we should run more screens and short passes to our tailbacks out of the backfield and try to get teams that way if we are going to pass so much.

Its getting to that time when teams must rely more on the run game to win games on the road. Soon it will be run game to win games on the road and at home. Only 3 of the 7 passers with 300+ yards won their games. Soon teams will start to shift.

Been saying this since last season. We need to be a heavy run team with the backs we have.

I acknowledge the trend but every team is different. Successful teams play towards their strengths and consistently win those tougher games more often than not. We don't play to our strength, we play off a half a page of plays from the 90's....

Until Garret goes, this team won't even get to 60/40 run pass.

If Garrett would use the run to set up the play action pass, he would be able to get all of those big plays down field he covets so much. But when your run game is ineffective in the first half and you abandon it without trying to grind it out a bit, you can't use the play action. We have 3 very good backs, yet he just scraps the run and starts that shotgun passing....I am beginning to think Garrett is the reason we can't win in December, the guy has zero imaginiation when it comes to using all of these weapons...:banghead:

Keep in mind that 15 passing plays came in on one drive alone, this was the drive that ended in the pick.

Thanks again kaptain obvious but it was a close game for 3 quarters and we abandoned the run. We only had 11 carries the entire game...

Take away those 15 passing plays and it is still 28 to 11 or 70-30. It seems like every week he starts passing more and more. The less points we score the more he throws, which is fine when you are behind but in a close game if you are barely running and when you do run it is draw all the time how are you going to wear a defense out?

Fact is they went down the field on that series passing the ball(15 passes) it just ended with a pick because of a lack of execution.Point is this team has more issues than just the playcalling. Here are some examples from the game, there are not many excuses to be made when you can't pick up 4 yards on two plays.Execution or lack of is the main reason for the loss along with the coaching staff not having this team prepared.

yep, I think I remember McNabb getting 450 yards yesterday.

It's not only about executing. Why is Romo getting so many sacks? If we ran more, and realize that our WR's are not getting the separation and forcing Romo to hang onto the ball for an inordinate amount of time, then yeah, I think the playcalling sucks to keep trying to pass.

Well, considering we are leading the league in YPC average, I'd assume that we would be nearly impossible to stop

But no, that's too easy and logical for the Princeton genius. He has to outthink himself.

Asking me if I expect us to run on 2nd and 15 or 3rd and 23 is like asking me if I wanna amputate my leg for kicks.

You are either not being practical or your just being completely evasive. How 'bout running it on 1st down so we don't end up with 2nd and 23? How 'bout running the ball on 1st, 2nd, and occasionally 3rd down on 3 or 4 drives? How bout if we only pass when teams sell out to stop the run? Then we can get those pretty 50 yard glory plays... Huh how 'bout that? What say ye?

I saw running plays on 2nd. and 3rd. down that failed to pick up 4 yards.

I saw a running play on 1st. down for negative yardage.

I saw a fumble that lost yardage.

I saw a penalty by Witten that negated a 1st. down.

I also saw a Green Bay team that played with a sense of urgency while this team was getting stripped of their manhood. You can blame coaching all you want but the game is decided by players making plays. This team had a chance to make some plays and just didn't deliver.

This is nothing new. 47 pass attempts when clearly it's not working is beyond ridiculous. They say Garrett is an Ivy League'r but not yesterday. Princeton called they want their diploma back...
