This is nothing new. 47 pass attempts when clearly it's not working is beyond ridiculous. They say Garrett is an Ivy League'r but not yesterday. Princeton called they want their diploma back...

They called 14 passes in a row from the shotgun, with some no huddle mixed in on their 2nd. series of the fourth quarter. They moved the ball from the Dallas 23 to the Green Bay 1.On the 15th pass attempt Romo threw the pick, that pick was caused by bad execution. If the ball is in front of Witten it is caught for 6 or incomplete and not intercepted. If the pass was not working that drive should have been a 3 and out.

Spin it all you want but had we been running the ball more in the 1st three quarters we wouldn't be desperately trying to play catch up because more than likely we'd either be in the lead or within 3 points. Even pitchers get relief in baseball, c'mon man!!!

When we get shut out for 3 full quarters after running the ball 25-35 times in a game, then come back here and talk to me about facts. It's time to flip the scheme, we need to run more than we pass...

We definetely should've ran more yesterday but make no mistake this is a passing league.

The spread offense of College football has made an impact on the NFL and its just become more of a passing league.

Your top NFL teams throw the ball all around the lot now days.

If anything we should run more screens and short passes to our tailbacks out of the backfield and try to get teams that way if we are going to pass so much.

I swear there are some on this board who think this it's the Big 10 in the 1960s with three runs and a cloud of dust.

You need to run but you win with the pass.

Wade agrees. See below (if only Wonderboy Garrett would get the message).

Phillips: Cowboys relied too much on Romo's arm

Posted by Michael David Smith on November 16, 2009 4:25 PM ET
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo dropped back to pass 44 times in Sunday's loss to the Green Bay Packers. He handed off 11 times.

Looking back on the game, Cowboys coach Wade Phillips says he doesn't want to see such an imbalance between passing and running again.

"We still want to play balanced," Phillips said, per Tim MacMahon of ESPNDallas.com. "If we can run the ball, we want to be able to control the ball more. It'd help the defense, if nothing else."

It'd also make life more difficult for the opposing defense, as Packers defensive coordinator Dom Capers made clear in his post-game comments. Asked why the defense was able to shut the Cowboys out until a garbage time touchdown, Capers said the Cowboys' lack of balance made life easy for his unit.

"We were able to pressure more [Sunday] because the game became one-dimensional," said Capers. "You can just go out and blitz, but if people are going to run the ball for big yardage on you you're foolish. We had some run pressures, they worked decently and it opened up more of our pass pressures."

It's not clear why the Cowboys allowed the game to become so one-dimensional: Usually teams don't abandon the run unless they fall way behind, but the Cowboys abandoned the run even though they were tied 0-0 for half of the game and were only down 3-0 at the start of the fourth quarter. Whatever the reasons for the Cowboys' pass-happy play calling, Phillips says it can't happen again.

Take off eh. The run also sets up the big pass that wins the game. We are in full reverse mode right now and it's not working. There are also less turn overs with that cloud of dust which keeps you in the game...

Yep ... he's ticked off. And he positively, absolutely hopes it doesn't happen again.

This putz has been saying since last year's embarrassment that we are gonna run the ball more...

I dunno, maybe after a completely lopsided irresponsible abandonment of the run he's snapped out of it, maybe. All I know is that if he doesn't fix the offense Garrett won't but will continue to pad stats against weaker teams and expose us against stronger teams, Wade will look like the villain and Garrett will either become HC or some other hapless team will scoop him up and us fans will be left in ruins. Wade's legacy will always be one of not good enough and soft, what a waste...

So what. We became one dimensional and got exposed.

Capers > Garrett

Capers > Garrett

The team getting exposed had to do more with mistakes and lackluster effort than anything else.

well while we're at it, why not institute a wishbone offence and have Romo run the option?

Carefull, Wade! Challenging the Red Jesus and his playcalling isn't to popular with some fans around here.

I guess Dom Capers didn't really watch the game either since he also thinks that Garrett was one dimensional.

Miles Austin saved Jason Garrett these last few weeks. Now that teams have focused on taking him out of the game, we are beginning to see the TO trend. Garrett can't compensate. Romo is getting pressured and teams are blitzing, while defending the deep pass.

You take what the defense gives you but no way we should have abandoned the run early.

Well for what it's worth, now that they are taking away Miles, Roy Williams is having good games.
