It's Time To Replace Greg Ellis

Well, we know (1) Wade likes Carpenter's athleticism, (2) Ellis will be playing Merriman's position (LOLB), and (3) we're looking at OLBs in the draft.

Them there tea leaves are talking to me.

Dude, you're not supposed to smoke them..........:lmao2:

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh.....I slay myself sometimes. :laugh2:

My only concern is the injury and how well he recovers. Will he make it through the season.

Right. I'll believe it when I see it -- Ellis playing at full strength in '07, that is.

But that's what the FO keeps shouting, so I think that's what they're expecting.

Me too. I keep thinking of Peterson, same injury but to the same extent? He seemed to come out smelling like a rose. There is the age difference, too.

I dunno. I'm like you with this.........show me.

That's the thing. We really don't know the severity of the injury. I'm not familiar with achilles injuries and if they can vary in severity, but it appears as though it's not career-ending nowadays.

Let's face reality, guys. It's time to replace Greg Ellis. I admire how he made the switch to LB last season, but it's kind of a myth that he was ever a great player to begin with. To expect him to return to top form after his achilles injury is kind of wishful thinking. He's 31, and that's a major rehab. He needs to be phased out and we should draft his replacement now. He'll have lost a step and we can't afford that. Great guy, but it's time for him to go.

turns out we drafted this guy in the firstrd named Robert Carpenter. Actually played near the end of the year and looked pretty damn good.

when Ellis left last year,The defense was never the same,if he is able to come back the same guy or better, they will be the best unit in the nfl, they were getting there before he got hurt.Say what you want, this guy is a good pass rusher. He can speed by a lineman, and run over a rb to get the qb.
