It's time to stop neglecting the 1 tech

I don't care how much improvement needs to come with the pass rush, if we can't stop the run on 1st or 2nd down, then our 3rd down rushers cannot fully pass rush to the QB. There were too many times last year where it was 2nd and 2 or 3rd and I for us on defense. It's time to stop neglecting the 1 tech, and draft Jarran Reid from Alabama. We need to do better than Nick Hayden. Thoughts?

He will be around all this next season cause Hayden is his "Rooster" now move on.
Cowboys may get a 1Tech somewhere in the draft but, it won't probably be in the first 3 rounds.

When other teams lose even more and still produce a solid season. No one person in an organization should be able to keep a sub-par player in the starting lineup and refuse to draft better and younger players to replace him. He is a "nice player" not Gerald McCoy. Hopefully they don't think their set. I'd like to see them have 2-3 guys capable of playing both spots well and have a deep rotation.

I agree! There is more than one gaping whole on that Cowboys Defense! The 1-tech, LB, and secondary is sub-standard and in need of upgrades through free agency and the draft!

Hayden was beat out by McClain before he was injured, correct? I think that shows they're open to an upgrade at the 1, but perhaps didn't have an option after McClain went down.

Both the #1 and #3 defensive tackle positions need addressing in this draft. I so would attempt to trade down and get a pair of defensive tackles to fill these two needs:

1. #3 DT Sheldon Rankins Louisville
2. #1 DT Jarran Reed Alabama

Pay for what one gets here...Reed, at about 10-14/Rankins, at about 24 - 27

This would probably take two trades, to land both...but at least this fan is on board at the prospects of landing them both. The long termed price would be worth this pair.

This is an unusual draft that has a good amount of talent at defensive tackle. This one, the Cowboys need to be on the front side of the bell curve!

tyrone Crawford had 5.0 sacks last year. he had 9 guys at that postion with more than him and he had 1 arm!!! out of those 9 he was 4th in pressures for DTS, he takes on double teams on a regular basis, while the guy next to him ( Hayden) takes on one guy and get steamrolled. Crawford hasn't even hit his ceiling yet. Crawford played a lot better than some of you think.

I really want one of the top 3 qbs, but aside from that I am with you get 2 of the 10-15 very good DTs in this draft. Just like the O, get dominant up front and the LBs and secondary will automatically improve.

I agree. We're fine with T. Craw and Irving for now. We need a stud 1-tech next to them. That and future QB are my two biggest wants.

DC.com floated taht they were not going to discount it as they have in the past. Who knows what that means. I've been calling for this since Brent killed his best friend.
