Yeah, Webb shut down Williams in those practices.

He is a really nice cover guy.

Mike Mayock claimed Wilcox as a starter coming out of the Draft, also.

as I was JUST going to start one about Webb in particular. Here is my question guys: do you think that we drafted him SPECIFICALLY to be slot type cover corner? I know he looked good against Williams here but....he struggled quite a bit in the Senior Bowl footage I saw the other day against bigger, stronger WR's on the outside. I'm hoping and thinking he's a slot cover guy from day one.....thoughts?

CB is one of those spots where I think the numbers are probably as important as the film in how you grade a player. You have to have elite change of direction and elite agility to play the position and this guy has it in spades.

Now you throw in technique, physicality and ball skills you have yourself a CB. This is where the game film comes in hand.

I really like the kid and I hope he manages to push OScan who is grossly overpaid off the roster so we get some cap space to improve the trenches.

I like that description of Wilcox, "A safety with corner feet". They were really complimentary of him.

A few points to answer your question:

1) We have our starting outside CBs locked in for 4 years.
2) Scandrick's salary is somewhat low this year, but jumps in 2014.
3) Jerry stated that looking at the salary of the slot CB position was worth looking at in future.

So yeah, the goal is to have him replace Scandrick in 2014.

Webb was an excellent pick. Wilcox has potential, but I'm not holding my breath.

Found this video, skip to when the South Team practices.

Good matchups of Webb vs Terrance Williams!

Wilcox is the one that is really impressive in that video, IMO.

He covers like a CB but is a big, thick 213 lb guy.

Still think he's a 2-3 yr project. I hope I'm wrong because I wanted a walk-in starter from this deep safety draft.

Davis and Mayock gave both Webb and Wilcox much praise, with Mayock calling Wilcox "my guy" and an "immediate starter" so only time will tell.

I would say you're 100 percent accurate. He seems like the kind of quick twitch athlete that could excel in the slot.

what time frame of the video? It's 36 minutes long.

Went ahead and cut it up to relevant parts (I was already cutting up other video, inertia was there):

Only Webb, Wilcox and Williams.

That's OK. If you spend a few hundred hours isolating on players for evaluation purposes you'll learn to evaluate them. Just because you don't know anything now doesn't mean that you can't learn.
