Well I'll explain the parts where you are wrong.

First, Wilcox played at a much higher level of football. Georgia Southern is a well-known powerhouse in the lower division and they sometimes will play the big schools. The players get much better coaching and face much better competition than AOA's team did.

AOA lacked physicality. He routinely was getting trucked and didn't like to stick his nose in there. That's a big problem for a Safety.

AOA was really a track athlete that excelled against lower competition but he didn't have the hips for CB nor the instincts and physicality to play Safety. Furthermore, even though he timed fast he never really looked like the fastest guy on the field because he couldn't translate all that speed onto the field against the higher level competition.

Wilcox is really physical. It pops out even when he is playing offense or returning kicks. It pops out when he attacks ball carriers.

Wilcox also appears to have some ball skills and can go and compete for the ball against WRs.

So I think Wilcox is a real football player. You could see it on the highlights, you can see his impressive coverage for a 6-0 215 pound guy in the Senior Bowl highlights for a guy who played at a lower level and only one years experience at Safety he was very, very good.

Most 3rd rounders never amount to much so the odds are against him. At the very least, I like his chances to be a really good ST player. I definitely see the potential for him to become a starter.

I'm actually less convinced about Webb. I think he has further to go before he can see the field as his technique seems to need a lot of work. I do like his athleticism which is off the charts good. I think he needs a year but hopefully can push OScan off the team to save some cap space going forwards.

That's OK. If you spend a few hundred hours isolating on players for evaluation purposes you'll learn to evaluate them. Just because you don't know anything now doesn't mean that you can't learn.

Yes. I agree

I have no idea why somebody would rather have Rambo over Wilcox.

Wilcox looked like the better player to me.

Webb seemed to be really solid, and he only got noticeably beat one time. That Alford guy was also good.

I like that description of Wilcox, "A safety with corner feet". They were really complimentary of him.

Do yourself a favor and watch without sound so you can form your own opinion.

Announcers have an effect on the perception.

They are similar with how they made it to the league. Coming form small schools and playing RB.

As far as their skillset I think they are different.

AOA had 0 football instincts.

Anyway...

Wilcox impressed me the most in those videos. The dude reacts incredibly quick.

I think Williams needs to learn to be more physical.

BW Webb didn't impress me too much tbh.

Davis and Mayock gave both Webb and Wilcox much praise, with Mayock calling Wilcox "my guy" and an "immediate starter" so only time will tell.
Its really intriguing to think that Wilcox could start right away. I don't know how a guy who has only played one year at the position, especially at Georgia Southern of all places, would do so. That's a HUGE jump. Physically he might be there, I think the mental part will be what challenges Wilcox.

Personally, I don't see him starting day one, but I guess you never know.

They really aren't that similar. AOA's school IUP is Division II. Georgia Southern is Division I FCS and they are also one of the top programs historically at their level.

I could see packages where Carr plays some safety, especially if we are still lacking there due to injuries or slow development.
