The way I see it:

J.Jones and MB3 are two very different types of backs...

J.Jones -

1. Does not have a very high level of break away speed, but on the other hand has a very very quick step/ acceleration

2. Has nifty, break your ankle in three places types of moves (that's more appropriate for the defensive secondary, NOT...I repeat NOT for the backfield)

3. Lacks the brute strength to bowl defenders over

4. Not as good a blocker as MB3

5. Not as good as MB3 at catching passes in the backfield

6. Poses a threat to hit the home run on any given play or down

7. Has a nose for the endzone in the redzone (just not as big as that of MB3)

Bottomline: J.Jones while lacking the grit to break the first tackle (in the backfield) has the talent and ability to make 2nd, 3rd, to the last defender reach for him and grab a handful of air.

MB3 -

1. Lacks a very high break away speed just like J.Jones, while also lacking in the quick acceleration department

2. Has nifty, break your ankle in two places types of moves (that's more appropriate for the backfield, moves which can also work for the rest of the opposing defenders)

3. Has more than enough brute strength to bowl defenders over like a human Mack truck

4. Blocks better than J.Jones

5. Catches passes way better than J.Jones out of the backfield

6. Doesn't pose the same amount of threat that J.Jones poses to defenses with regards to being able to hit the home run on any given play or down

7. Has a pinokio sized nose for the endzone in the redzone

Bottomline: Is more of an efficient smashmouth style back...whom while not posing any significant home run hitting threats, can and will make defenders pay every time they come in contact with him

Note: J.Jones can and will become a more effective back with the help of a lead blocker (to handle the first defender?whom he usually has trouble breaking away from)

Jones > Barber

Barber come in AFTER, Jones Runs.....So that mean Barber is Fresh...the D is not. If barber started..he would get like 2-3 yards PA. And everyone would be saying.." Why ain't Jones Starting"

You don't think Julius has break-away speed? He's a track guy and was considered only speed when he came to us.

Barber's great around the end zone and short yardage, but his limitations were on display when he was caught from behind on that long run yesterday.

Gotta disagree he outran Ken Lucas on the long touchdown last year and lucas can run.

2. Has nifty, break your ankle in three places types of moves (that's more appropriate for the defensive secondary, NOT...I repeat NOT for the backfield)

3. Lacks the brute strength to bowl defenders over

JUJo typically gets hit in the backfield but once hes moving he has good pop.

4. Not as good a blocker as MB3

Not trut they are both good blockers.

5. Not as good as MB3 at catching passes in the backfield

Also not true plus JuJo is twice the threat on screens as Barber.

6. Poses a threat to hit the home run on any given play or down

7. Has a nose for the endzone in the redzone (just not as big as that of MB3)

Not true in that Dallas very rarely gives Jones the chance to get a TD on the goal line.

Bottomline: J.Jones while lacking the grit to break the first tackle (in the backfield) has the talent and ability to make 2nd, 3rd, to the last defender reach for him and grab a handful of air.

Break the first tackle kind of hard when you only get to take a couple steps before your hit.

MB3 -

1. Lacks a very high break away speed just like J.Jones, while also lacking in the quick acceleration department

2. Has nifty, break your ankle in two places types of moves (that's more appropriate for the backfield, moves which can also work for the rest of the opposing defenders)

Barber does not have break your ankles moves he has good instincts and can make people miss just enough where an arm tackle will not be enough.

3. Has more than enough brute strength to bowl defenders over like a human Mack truck

4. Blocks better than J.Jones

Don't think so

5. Catches passes way better than J.Jones out of the backfield

6. Doesn't pose the same amount of threat that J.Jones poses to defenses with regards to being able to hit the home run on any given play or down

7. Has a pinokio sized nose for the endzone in the redzone

Nice when JuJo gets him to the goaline in short yardage.

Bottomline: Is more of an efficient smashmouth style back...whom while not posing any significant home run hitting threats, can and will make defenders pay every time they come in contact with him

I am sorry but this guy has no clue what he is talking about. One thing our OL needs to get better at is run blocking. When JuJo is in there defenses will typically stack the box. When Barber is in there they rarely do it.

Talk about stating the obvious.
Neither back is an elite NFL back.
But they are complimentary and as a two-some, work well enough.

Anyone who thinks Jones doesn't break tackles or bowl people over isn't watching the game. He does it several times a game.

It's the typical Barber lovers not realizing BP has him in there with his strengths not weaknesses. When JuJo went down last year our running game went to nill.

He ran a 4.47 40 back in college. He's stronger now, he may be running quicker now.

I think he ran a 4.38 at the combine- Tatum Bell had a time that was .01 faster and I think he ran a 4.37. What JJ has is a tremendous first and second step- another reason he is so effective at juking - he can dip inside or outside and the defender moves with him, but is left in his dust as JJ goes the other way. JJ's top speed is not that great- his great initial acceleration is why he has such a good 40 time. I think he had the top 20 time at the combine.

JJ's awesome. He's never gonna be a star, I think he'll turn out exactly like his brother Thomas.

Solid, reliable, talented. Wont dominate but will be there week to week and get you the yards you need.

I like the way both these guys run.

Barber's actually the same way I think. He'd get hurt playing the way he does in a full time role.

thats rediculous, the talk that barber is fresh and the D is not.

Barber came in much earler than he usually does aganist the bucs after jones got jacked up, and was running well then.

Barber >>>>>>Jones

This was taken from rotoworld, at fantasy football league.

Julius Jones rushed 11 times for 40 yards Sunday.

Marion Barber finished with more carries because Jones left the game late in the third quarter with the game in end. Barber continues to crush Jones' value, replacing him on the goal and catching two scores. Jones did get one crack at the three-yard line, but was tackled at the one. He gets a long rest before playing the Giants.

================================================
Marion Barber rushed 16 times for 83 yards and caught two short touchdowns in a Week 12 win.

Barber was stuffed on the goal line once, but caught both scores on roll outs by Tony Romo. Eleven of Barber's rushes came late in the game when the game was out of reach, so the division of carries with Julius Jones was normal until then. Barber has eleven scores on the year and remains a solid flex at the Giants next week.

so after Jones was well rested cause barber had been playing and the defense was really wore down late in the game, he didnt score from the 3 ?

I thought barber made it look so easy only because of that type of situation.

fantasy is just that. BP knows he will need a fresh JJ for the Giants- they are going to come at ROmo with everything they have.
