Both Cox and Jones were lunging toward one another. Jones was a runner in that situation, so hitting a QB like that wasn't a rule violation. In the end, Jones got the worst of it. Each player was intent upon opposite goals. One wanted to score and the other to prevent it. Just hard-nosed football.

I've been saying it for weeks. Cox should have been playing since Week 1. He's definitely better than Jaylon was, and Cox can not only cover well in coverage, he's got the size, strength and speed to either run you down trying to run around the edge on him or trying to run at him.

I said it before, what in Hades was Dan Quinn waiting for all of these weeks, especially after recently finding out that the Cowboys had been trying since this past offseason started to find a trading partner for Jaylon Smith. If you knew you didn't want Jaylon Smith anymore before the season started, why did you continue to start him while keeping Jabril Cox either inactive or standing on the sidelines all of these weeks???

Talk about a royal screw up. I wonder who was responsible for this delay?

I was not high on Cox when we picked him. But watching him in preseason got me convinced that he could become an effective starter for us. He not only has good speed but he has good read and react time and is a sure tackler. I think he might take over for LVE next year. But for now, I think he would be a good cover linebacker while Parsons can be our passrush specialist.

Jones put his head down first. Which made Cox put his head down as well. If there was a penalty, they could have flagged Jones for spearing.

I can only imagine what might have happened if Jaylon Smith had been there, instead of Jabril Cox.

Jaylon might have hesitated just long enough to ensure Dan Jones getting the Giants a touchdown.

If he would have hit Danny Dimes and took him out I would bet that Jaylon would do the swipe.

I still remember injuring a Chicago receiver in the endzone when we were winning. He did the swipe and made me dislike him as a player.

The swipe didn't really bug me quite as much as the self promotion that he insisted upon at every turn. I thought it was sickening.

Yeah, looks like they erred on the side of caution. I guess they thought Jaylon's experience and lack of speed would be a safer combination than Cox's speed and lack of experience. As time went on, I think Cox picked up his assignments and was ready to play.

I watched Jaylon against Philly yesterday and Jaylon was slow and his experience was not enough to overcome his deficiencies at this point.

Cox understands his role and executes his responsibilities better than Jaylon.

Cox did not take a single false step and his understanding of leverage allowed him to diagnose and root out the bootleg.

Cox didn't do anything that I know of so far this season until he hit Jones.

........It's as if he just exploded onto the scene.
......just in...We have a Fan Favorite. I hope he does well, like all the players, but the brakes do need pumping. Board in search of a Fall Guy right now.

None of us on this board would have made that tackle.

Yep, Zeke actually had that happen to him before. So an offensive player can be called for it.

Not real sure why Cox hasn’t been playing more to begin with. Staff needs to admit they screwed up by not having him in there all along.

“Staff needs to admit they screwed up”….Really??

We have absolutely no idea what Cox has done in practice and the meeting rooms to warrant that statement, as we have no access to the team. And if you are going on what we have seen so far up until yesterday, absolutely nothing. Even the media that as access to SOME practices hasn’t even mentioned the kid.

Since he's on a 4th round rookie contract and on his first year.
He's definitely not a rich man at this point... if the NFL fines him unfairly for that hit (which Daniel Jones initiated), Jerry Jones needs to 100% "pick up the tab".
If not, we all need to get out there and throw eggs and toilet paper rolls at Jerruh and his family until they pick up the tab.
Employees over big corp 1000%.
after really thinking about the rules the quarterback did lower his head[I agree] so maybe there isnt a problem

Cox is pretty good but…. It’s Premature Speculation if you think he’s ready for the big time.

They scored on the next play. But still happy to have Cox.

While this is true, that play ended any chance the Giants had to win. And even though I never like to see any player get hurt like that, it was Jones that put the crown of his helmet into our LBs facemask. So I hope no one is trying to blame Cox for a dirty hit.
