fish tweeted that if BOTH Rod and Eberflus were to leave, that Jack Del Rio would be a possible target to fill the DC position. With that said, let's just discuss Del Rio.

What do you guys know about him and his defenses? Scheme, performance, etc...

Why would he come here?

He's about to get a HC job.

Whatever.. Del Rio fits the country club mentality.

This league is disgusting. It must be frustrating to be a coach at the highschool or college level and trying to break into the good ole boys league known as the NFL.

Once you get in you can fail several times before you just get moved to a position coach and forgotten about and then your kids will most likely get to coach in the NFL when they get older.

A lot of Oakland players and fans were not so happy about Ken Norton Jr. being the scapegoat for their defensive struggles. There has to be better options out there than the Jason Garrett of defensive coaches

A name worth monitoring is Greg Schiano, the DC for Ohio State.
Obviously, Schiano has an NFL background, as he was the Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach. While that didn't pan out, he's been the defensive coordinator for both the Miami Hurricanes and Ohio State Buckeyes.

Unless we change Garrett the asst coaches we choose will not really have much impact. Del Rio is average
when have u ever seen an average HC win just because he brought in a different DC.

I didn't say he would. I said that's who I would be going after. I mean, you can ask this question about anybody we hire right? Yet, every year, there are guys coaching in Dallas........

For starters, not many coordinators make lateral moves in this league. The Patriots also can block him from interviewing for a lateral move. Further, why would he leave Belichick for Dallas and Garrett?

I never said I would be looking at him as a DC..........

If Belichick is out in New England, I can see every reason why he might do that.

I must have not gotten enough sleep. LOL.

Isn't this thread about Del Rio as a DC? Aren't we talking about filling the DC position if Marinelli were to retire?

Well, if you wanna talk about Del Rio, go ahead. Mostly, it seems like you wanna talk about why Patricia.... Go ahead and talk about Del Rio, I'm sure there will be plenty of folks who wanna do that.

;)

And he is probably ready to sign after the Tennessee debacle lol.

But how many with ties to the Cowboys, that Jerry already knows and is comfortable with?
And that's what might give him an inside track to the job. So he might get it on that basis.

But I still think there are better guys out there.
