Jack Del Rio - Possible DC target

A name worth monitoring is Greg Schiano, the DC for Ohio State.
Obviously, Schiano has an NFL background, as he was the Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach. While that didn't pan out, he's been the defensive coordinator for both the Miami Hurricanes and Ohio State Buckeyes.

That's an astute observation. OSU just hired Alex Grinch to be their "co-defensive coordinator" and to coach the secondary (and presumably to steal Christmas). They had anticipated losing Schiano to the University of Tennessee until lunatic media members orchestrated a nixing of that hire. So OSU hires a supposed 10th assistant to basically do the same job as Schiano with him still on the staff. Might he be waiting until after the late signing day for recruiting purposes to announce he's leaving (for the NFL perhaps)? A few years ago Ohio State had running backs coach Stan Drayton on the phone with star RB recruit Mike Weber the night before signing day convincing him to stick with his decision to come to Columbus. The day after signing day Drayton left to join the Chicago Bears.

Long odds that Schiano ends up in Dallas (they'll probably hire Dexter Coakley as defensive coordinator, not because he has any experience but perhaps so that they can trade him down the line). It wouldn't be surprising to see him go somewhere in the NFL. He might get a nice 7 figure settlement after the Vols botched his hire. He's going to find a harder road getting a college head coaching position.

He did good in Denver though. He's not meant to be HC, but he will do better at DC than what we have now. Just saying.

Also in Carolina, he had the No. 2 defense in the league.

Mike Fisher is a parasite.

I know that wanting to know what is going on is a deal, but he is the worst kind in the realm right now.

Del Rio was a very good LB for the Cowboys. He has been successful as a coach. Del Rio began his coaching career as an assistant strength and linebacker coach with the New Orleans Saints. He was the linebacker coach on the Super Bowl XXXV-winning Baltimore Ravens, and defensive coordinator on the Carolina Panthers and the Denver Broncos.

Like Wade, Garrett, and the Ryan boys, Jack was a very good coordinator, which is why he was given head coaching opportunities. We could do worse IF that were the situation. He will blitz more than Marinelli, so some will like that......until they don’t.

I did and still don't understand.

Apparently reading comprehension is not a strong point in New Mexico.
Dude directly commented on Fisher's tweet which specifically mentioned
his personal list for DC.

If he wanted to talk HC, he could've started a new thread. People that don't notice their mistakes are hopeless.

I must have not gotten enough sleep. LOL.

Isn't this thread about Del Rio as a DC? Aren't we talking about filling the DC position if Marinelli were to retire?

yes somehow this thread went sideways. Had to read it twice.

Marinelli will be back. HATE losing Eberflus. Would love to have Jack as asst DC.

If Jerry would feel comfortable with him as Garrett replacement down the road, do not want.

People WHO don't notice ... ;)

Signed, the Grammar **** :D

fish tweeted that if BOTH Rod and Eberflus were to leave, that Jack Del Rio would be a possible target to fill the DC position. With that said, let's just discuss Del Rio.

What do you guys know about him and his defenses? Scheme, performance, etc...
Git him first. Then we can philosophize about what he brings. He is a steal as DC, blokes!
