I honestly don't know how one can say that the Jags have a terrible WR corp.

They have the following, as it stands today.

Matt Jones - 6'6 229 lbs. 2nd year
2005 GS 1, 36 catches, 482 yrds, 13.38 YPC and 5 TDs

Ernest Wilford - 6'4 218 lbs. 3rd year
2004 GS 3, 19 catches, 271 yrds, 14.3 YPC and 2 TDs
2005 GS 8, 41 Catches, 681 yrds, 16.6 YPC and 7 TDs

Reggie Williams - 6'4 214 lbs. 3rd year
2004 GS 15, 27 Catches, 268 yrds, 9.9 YPC and 1 TD
2005 GS 7, 35 Catches, 445 yrds, 12.7 YPC and 0 TDs

I guess I just like these three young WRs better then most. I see these guys putting it together and this team being very dangerous at WR in the coming future.

Out of the bad WR crops we have listed above, I think they definitely have the most "potential". I really like Matt as a deep threat and Ernest underneath.

I even picked Matt as a sleeper on my fantasy squad.....might have something to do with me being Hog alumni though......

Well, I've seen Jones play many times while at Arkansas and he sold me. I liked him as a WR prospect coming out. I really wanted that guy but it was not to be. I guess I'm just stupid, I don't even like the Razorbacks. To many SWC memories for me.

LOL, hadn't thought about the ol' SWC days in a while. Matt is just an athlete, if they could actually run the option in the league, he would be the one that could pull it off.......least til he had to throw it, he always had a weak arm.

Philly just has me clueless, why have a Pro Bowl QB, and have noone he can throw it to. They are easily the best team with horrible WRs in the league, I mean these other teams we mention are horrible everywhere, unlike Philly.

Nah, they don't stink, they are just young........you bring up basketball, Matt did play bball for the Hogs, and was probably their best big man that year.

Yes he is. To me, it's really a shame that Arkansas didn't recruite just a little bit better. Had they been able to get a quality QB in there, Jones probably would have developed as a WR or TE as he should have. The guy really is an amazing player. Can just do so much. If I recall, he only played QB because the team needed him there.

Sometimes I really miss that old SWC. Probably ruined me for life. Now, I like to watch is a power running game and break neck defense. Not much of that left in the NFL.

I can't agree with this. All of them put up very respectable numbers for where there at in there careers, all are showing steady improvement. As there QB gets better and that OL developes, they are going to be a powerful offensive unit IMO.

Yep, back then, Ken Hatfield had the Hogs going option all the way. The game is just different now.

I guess you can go on thinking that then and when they still stink and cant get open vs man coverage after this season, we can discuss it again...everytime I read something about their WR's its about how niether Williams or Jones even remotely looks like 1st rd picks

One concern I do have about them is quickness, Matt has always been faster than quick, if you know what I mean. He is a long strider that takes a while to get up to speed, and I wonder about his quickness out of cuts when running patterns. He is better at the deep stuff cause he has room to use all that speed and he is a legit 6'6", and I do believe he will have a good future in this league.

Watching their game, I did see some separation problems, but I also saw a struggling QB. Bryon can shoulder just as much blame, cause he hasn't looked good either.

Thank you David, that's what I'll do. Before TO came to Dallas, all I ever read was how old and bad our own WR corps were. Now, they seem to have become all world over night. I guess I just see much more potential in this young group then many do. That's OK with me. I'm willing to revisit it and shoulder whatever the results dicatate. Please do come calling after the season. Will be interesting to see how they stack up.

What's it going to be then, eh?

failed in two palces? why would we want him?

He has failed in Pittsburgh, Jacksonville (twice), Detroit and St. Louis.

That's theoretically five different failures.

Heck, I remember Frank Broyles and later Lou Holtz. Lots of good football played in those days. Takes you back.

Well, you missed something special then. Frank Broyles was a damn fine Football Coach.

Yeah, I have heard good things about him then, and although I have questioned some of his moves as an athletic director, it is obvious that he has done a fine job with a program with really a small base of talent pool in Arkansas.

To be honest, I am not close enough to the Arkansas program to say if he's a good AD or not. It's tough to recruit to Arkansas. You play in a big time conference but you recruite against both SEC and Big12 programs. It's a tough road to hoe for sure.
