Jake Locker, would you draft him in the 2nd?

I don't understand how guys like Mark Ingram could drop outside the top 10. There's a good chance he's your franchise running back for years to come. You can draft good ones in later rounds for sure, but rarely someone at that level.

What level would that be? Ingram ran for over 900 yards just once in three seasons.

Because RB's have become a luxury unless there is a phenom talent available.

I think Ingram will be a Saint or Colt.

The Colts already made the mistake of taking a RB in round 1 twice w/ Adai and Donald Brown. Polian has mentioned how he messed up by not taking Saffold so I think they go after Carimi or Castanzo.

The Saints can get by w/ Pierre Thomas and any other dude

He's never completed 60% of his passes and he regressed from 58% to 55% as a senior. I wouldn't take him in the 7th round.

Locker has Phillip Rivers written all over him. A tough gamer with a mean streak.

With that said, our project quarterback is already on the roster and he comes with essentially the same tool and deficiencies.

Just like Locker, you couldn't be any more inaccurate.

Locker's best year, might be as good as Phillip's worst year.........

If he ever becomes a legit starter.

Maybe in the 5th or later. And that is a big maybe.

But beyond the 5th he could be considered a project and maybe the coaches can work with him.

The way I see him is as a tease.

He has the size, the arm strength the look that makes coaches and scouts drool but he just does not produce due to his problems with accuracy and inconsistence on the field.

He would have to be a project.

I attended training camp when he was supposed to be the next Troy Aikman. Has a friggen cannon for an arm and the size (6' 5" 225 pounds). I watched him throw passed at one of the net targets at 25 yards and 1 out of 4 were over the net and hitting the bleachers. The friggen bleachers. I'm not saying that he's that bad, but he sure is inaccurate and almost got some of his wide receivers killed yesterday with his throws. The QB from Florida State looked much more like a high draft pick then this fellow.

yes, heck yes.

Locker will not be there at 40 because when he gets to the combine he will rise up the rankings. Locker has been on a team with a terrible offensive line, no wr's, no TE and until recently no running game.

He has all the intangibles, is a hard worker, good leader and tremendous athlete that needs to sit behind a veteran for a few seasons and be coached up.

Dallas doesn't make picks like this because Jerruh is too short sighted and always looking to sell seats today.
Teams like Pittsburgh, Green Bay, New England build through the draft and make picks like that.

I wouldn't mind him in the 4th or 5th, if we were looking for a QB. But he is as you described, a project.

Folks leaning on the "he's got all the intangibles" vagary are the guys that would tell you the fat chick has a "great personality."

For the Cowboys?
Absolutely not.

For another team...maybe.

We have too many immediate needs on both lines to even consider drafting a project qb.

I want the Commanders to take him at #10.

I will hurt myself laughing.

Not even in the 3rd, and I might pass in the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th too.

exactly.

he is erratic and inaccurate. he is both a project and far removed from a position of need.

i rate him almost exactly as i rated stephen mcgee coming out. except we already have mcgee and he knows the system.

i would rather see them trade up to 7 or 8 and take him.
but yes, them taking him would be a true utter moment of joy.

I seriously hope the Redksins dont draft him.

The guy is a baller that has everything you ask for in a QB and will be a pro-bowler if hes handled the right way. IE given tons of reps at #2 for a season and a half.

I see, so if he's JAG like the majority of people think he'll be, including myself, you're going to say "he wasn't handled right" and wash your hands of him, lol?

This is my assessment of the player and has been since last year.

When a guy has no chance to establish a rhythm on offense it affects his comp %. And when his team is always down he obviously has to sling it more.

Hes not a guy you throw to the wolves b/c he needs reps. Once he establishes a feel of the offense, feel for his players, and makes it known hes the man he will be great.

Or a bunch of former backup HS football players who think theyre scouts can claim hes undraftable
