Jalen Hurts Regression

I hate Philly but I can still be objective, and my objective take is that Hurts is a hard QB to play against when he's healthy and running, but he's neither now and he's not good. His problem (Philly's problem) is that running QBs in the NFL get hurt, period, and we're seeing the effects of that on the field. As it his, he's barely a mono-threat anything. I think it was a lot easier for him to be great when he was playing behind the best OL in the league with the best defense in the league getting him turnovers and short fields.
Excellent point about running QB's always getting hurt. Think the biggest difference this yr is their defense. Last year, they were getting all the sacks, all the turnovers, but they aren't doing that this season. Hurts has to play more aggressive cause the defense cannot hold up.

That's part of it, but he can't run and if he can't run he can't be a good NFL QB.

What is clear now about Hurts is that last year was the anomoly. He's not that great consistently, he just had one amazing year.
He got a huge contract as a result of that year, so props to him, but now that contract is going to hurt them, and he's just not that good.
Someone said he was a great runner, but is he really? Certainly the push is a huge advantage and he runs it brilliantly. But as a runner, compare him to Lamar. Hurts is not that good. He's a good running QB, but I would not say he's a great runner, and as a passer he is very inaccurate and holds the ball way to long.
I know the Eagles lost some good players from last year, but I see Hurts regression as the biggest reason they are no where near as good as last year.
How many teams would love to have their quarterback regress and be 10-4 immediately following playing in the Super Bowl. If Hurts is bad, what would the Eagles record be if they had a better quarterback?

I listened to a whole eagles podcast on it. It’s hilarious listening to the fans implode.

IDK if Hurts has regressed...or how injuries he is...but the offensive vibe on that team is completely different on that team now.

Yet...when I was watching the Colts v Steelers, the Colts offense looks exactly what Philly's did last year. Philly probably should have promoted Steichen to head coach, and told Siri to take a hike.

Even Aaron Rogers seemed to "regress" under certain coaching

Hurts probably could’ve got that form a few more teams…..Falcons for sure.
He was under contract though. Woulda had to risk playing out his deal, possibly even a franchise year too...to do that.

With injuries and all the other risks that can happen... ANYONE would sign and bank the instant guaranteed fortune.

Even you or I would sign our name in blood to play for the eagles if they offered that guaranteed money to us right now.

Fair enough. My point is he got paid so he has to deal with it. If he doesn't like him oh well he shouldn't have re-signed. Can't have it both ways.

18 months from right now there will be 10 NFL quarterbacks being paid more than Jalen Hurts. Dak will be one of them. And it will be appropriate. He is not a top ten quarterback.

Jalen also hurts the Eagles and fantasy football owners.

Think many are using their Eagles hate in this discussion. Yes, Hurts hasn't played as well this season, but he still is a very hard QB to play against. He is a legitimate dual threat QB who has been playing on a bum knee since the Jets game. Has won several close games against top competition with a defense that is one of the worst in the entire league.
Hurts is good quarterback but he is limited. He is a one read RPO quarterback. His big issues this season is the regression of the offensive line. I don’t think the right guard is good and Lane Johnson/Kelse have lost a step.

Which right guard, the starter who is injured or the guy that is starting in his place?

I found Lane Johnson's lost step. It's just before the center snaps the ball.

Ya’ll can dog him all u want but the eagles r tied with us for the division and hurts played in a sb his 2nd season. I get his play has not been good as of late but it proves it takes a team to win, not just one player. Jmho

Who said he was bad?
He a good QB, I'm just saying, IMO (and this is an opinion site), that last year was the anomoly.
He was the runner up for league MVP last season (deservedly so), and I don't think he is that player this year. He has regressed to what he was before last year. Many of the criticisms of him prior to his near MVP season, inaccuracy, holding the ball/poor decisions etc, seem to suddenly be plaguing him once again.
No one said he was bad.
