There seems to be the possibility to land Jamal Adams... if we do, we will have to pay him the big money.. Should we have paid Byron Jones and not make the trade for Jamal Adams? Seems like we are just spinning our wheels..

The question is really do you overpay a player at a more valuable position. Or do you pay market value for the best player at a less valueable position

Factor in draft picks. You lose a late 3rd paying Jones. You trade a mid 1st for Adams

Totally different players. BJ31 was a slightly above average safety.
He is a great cover guy that doesn't make plays.

Adams can't cover but blows plays up routinely.

Adams is a classic move around and destroy the offenses type.

BJ31 is a set him outside and he takes away one guy.
That has less value now in 3 and 4 WR sets.

Adams has 273 tackles and 12 sacks in 3 years.... He has 2 All-Pro nods.
He is a game changing guy.
DAL hasn't had that outside the few games LVE and Jaylon truly meshed.

Adams is a top 2 safety in the league RIGHT NOW and just barley getting into his prime.

Byron was a failed 1st round pick at safety... and salvaged a career moving to be an above average Corner that netted him an overpaid contract with the LOL-phins

yeah not hard to see who needs to be paid

Anyone who comments here that Adams wouldnt make a difference hasn't seen him play much.

He is an absolute force back there, and WR KNOW he is there.

He is a leader also...something Dallas does not have much of, if any.

That all said, I still maintain they arent going to move him for only 17, nor do I think they should part with more.

He can be had when he is holding out of camp for next years #1, when the comp picks will ease that loss a bit.

And as far as the OPs question....Adams actually makes plays.

Jones hasn't intercepted a pass since 2017.

Byron Jones needed to go.

40 straight games without an INT is unacceptable, especially on a defense that’s allergic to takeaways.

Why should a young backup CB ever feel any pressure to make a game-changing play when the “star CB” making tens of millions NEVER makes a play?

I find it funny that people always are ok, with giving up draft picks and agree to pay a player, like when we did cooper, then when time comes to pay them, they all complain that we should move on, most would also be opposed to paying our own players that we drafted, but somehow, its ok to give up draft picks and reup their contracts...I call that lose-lose situation....draft picks are important, they are critical. they are the way you build a winning team....now, these pundits think we are one good safety away from dominance (not sure how) and we should give up a 1st, 3rd, plus player and give a big contract.....and these same pundits will turn on him just like they did on cooper, zeke and Dak…..

just freaking amazing..

We should not trade for Jamal adams…..I don't care how good he is....if anything, I would rather trade that 3rd rounder and player to move up into the top 10 and draft one of those DTs......

Adam's is a box safety. I don't understand the love affair some of you guys have with him. Some say he's a playmaker. Really? With something like three int's and four forced fumbles for his career. I don't think so.

I'd rather we save the money and picks by re-signing Ha-Ha to play SS for years to come.

Just my opinion and opinions vary.

The issue there is that other team's will value him as well and future picks hurt everyone less to give up.
You won't get Adams for just a future 1.
17 will never have more value than next Thursday night and that's what I would offer.

Adams has 12 sacks, 273 tackles, 6 forced fumbles, 4 fumble recoveries and 2 INT in 3 seasons.

I won't bore with you with BJ31 stats but his final 2 years while being a shutdown type corner he accumulated no real stats.
His best season as a safety he had 1 INT and 1 forced fumble.

Jones doesn't hold a candle to Adams. Dallas hasn't had a perennial Pro Bowl player at safety since Roy Williams some 15 years ago. There aren’t many safeties in the NFL, or in the 2020 NFL Draft, who are in Adams’ class.

Dallas has again another chance to get Adams. They'd be fools by not making it work.

Byron Jones easy.

Byron Jones is great at corner.. The only problem with him is he, like all of our DBs for the last 20 years, doesn’t intercept a lot of passes.

Byron Jones has way more position value and is elite at that position.

Can't wait until Thursday night so this Jamal Adams madness can finally come to an end.
