He says Showers has actually impressed coaches when given the opportunity, and that we'd probably see him moved up when eliminated from playoff contention.

I love hearing that, it lines up with what we saw in Preseason this year. Showers may never do anything, but you have to turn over every stone when trying to develop players are premium positions.

Plus its fun to think about, it would be lightning striking twice if we replaced UDFA Tony Romo with another UDFA.

May as well play him too, or at least some in the Commanders game.
Though I do not, think he or Moore is the future franchise QB. But still need to take a look.
My fear is that each will show enough that they will go into next TC and let these 2 compete for backup QB. We do need to need that, we need a QB to groom. But still need to take a look in case that is the way it works out over the off season.

Look..

To me I agree with you.

For my money..I would draft a QB this season and next season high and see if we can get some candidates in the pipeline.

We don t invest in the QB position now for 10 years.

That has to change. If we have all this money in the OL and the QB and TE but nothing at QB of the future or RB to help McFadden.

I still think that had Randle never have been played so much early on...

DMac would be around 1500 yds and we wouldn't have a lot to ***** about with his season.

So I look at some positive from an other wise very low achievement season.

What's it like to have your own insider to get this kind of information from? I like Shower and hope he gets a chance to shine in the regular season. I just was under the impression he wasn't getting snaps. Thanks for the heads up.

It's pretty cool actually. Showers wasn't even on my radar til I met this guy. A few other things he's told me:
A lot of the staff really dislike Hardy and it's not a lock that he will return.
Players really love RoMcclain, seems crazy but it's true.
Callahan called Garrett a ***** to his face in a staff meeting and JG couldn't do anything. He asked jerry to let him fire him and he was over ruled. This was a reaction to the Linehan hire.
Coaches are waaaay down on Terrence Williams. He has a poor attitude is disrespectful to Dooley and they were disappointed he didn't step up w Dez out.
He told me that DLaw is the real deal and is gonna be a stud for a long time. Gregory too.
Also said JG has lost about half the team. They don't believe in his philosophy or his offense.
There's more stuff but I'm tired of typing lol.

All very interesting to hear. Some I'm not surprised about but other things are shocking to me. When you feel like typing more I would love to know more... if you don't mind.

Ok so a few more tidbits:
some Of this has probably been mentioned in the media as well so forgive me if anything I mention seems stale:
Team is tired of Dezs antics, and Jerry is responsible for letting him come back too early from that injury. Dez demanded to return and had Jerry's support. He's hurt and has been having a tough time getting separation.
I asked about Hayden and he said overall Hayden does what he's supposed to do but coaches also believe TMcClain can play a big role at the same
Position and they aren't too worried about the 1 tech spot.
I asked about the draft and he was pretty tight lipped, said he can't talk too much about that. Hes a part of the staff but he's a fan as well so he's not willing to compromise detailed draft info for anyone as they work hard to keep it confidential. Said the most he'd tell me is that QB is on the table as well as linebacker. Didn't mention names or specify what round or anything like that but I took that as round 1 could be the round we grab our future QB. I know not ground breaking stuff because the media and social media cover this stuff to death.
If you have any specific questions let me know, I'm willing to ask him. hes kinda cranky and old school so a lot of what he says is negative (for example he thinks Cole Beasley is a whiny punk and that Dwayne Harris should be here instead based on versatility and playmaking ability). But it's coming from someone that's at practice and he's telling me both what he sees and how he personally feels about it.
Oh I can also tell you he's not a fan of Garrett. Says you'd be surprised at how much input jerry has in who play and how much they play. JG really is his puppet and that's why he desperately wants him to succeed. Again a lot of people believe this already but this is coming from someone on their staff.
Take it for what it is. For the record I'm not a troll or some weirdo that would make this stuff up for any kind of Internet cred, I just think it's cool to know someone that's so close to the inner workings and I wanted to share with fellow fans here because I've received a lot of info from others here as well.

I really hope Garrett makes him the backup to Kellen Moore and not just a special teams guy. I thought he was the best backup in preseason by far. The guy reminds me so much of Russell Wilson.
Chill out, he was average at best in the preseason, against practice squad type guys. Just because he's short and black doesn't mean he's the next Russell Wilson. I'm not saying he can't be good or won't be good but he hasn't done anything yet to warrant those comparisons, that's ridiculous.

Thanks for sharing. I'm sure the other readers here will find your posting very interesting as I do. I would love for this team to get a quality QB draft pick like Paxton Lynch or Jared Goff or maybe even Connor Cook. But yeah I do understand how tight lipped they have to be about those things. I've thought not bringing back Dwayne Harris was a mistake as soon as it happened. We could have really used his contributions on ST and at WR this year.

I think you're wrong on analysis of Showers and wrong for playing the race card. All Showers did was score TD's and show his toughness in ST by making tackles. If you didn't see that then you missed the preseason games. I don't know why you think being black has anything to do with the analysis of Showers comparison to Russell Wilson but the skill type is definitely there. You not seeing it says more about you than the poster you criticize for making the observation. I see the comparison too so if two independent sets of eyes see it, I bet there are many more out there that see it too.

I said he was clearly the best backup we had in preseason and he absolutely was in the limited time he played. The Russell Wilson comparison has mostly to do with his size and athletic ability. The way he was able to use his legs in that San Fran preseason game To avoid a blitzing db and make a play was Russell Wilson like. I never said anything about his race in comparing him to Wilson. I thought he made some great throws in preseason that his receivers were flat out dropping.

So I guess playing with practice squad guys didn't benefit him either.

God I hope not. Moore is an excellent scout team amd film room type QB, but I doubt he offers much on the field except in relief and after watching him, I dont even think he offers that.

Showers is a pure PS project who should he on the PS again in 2016. He's not a guy you want to discard after 1 season, but he isnt ready for even a 53 spot now

That is what I meant by what my fear is. They get to thinking, we got 2 guys that looked good, so we do not need to address the QB situation yet for long term.

The plus is they liked Vaughan last year, but still scouted the QB's heavily during draft season. So there is a strong chance it doesnt matter what they have.

However there is still the chance they still scout QBs and then think " Why draft , Lynch, Goff or Wentz when we have Moore and Showers"

Yep but there are many that wanted him to be Tony's replacement eventually.

Why, because he's short and stocky like Wilson? News flash, Wilson has always been a winner folks. NC State, Wisconsin, and now Seattle.

Showers is awful.

Showers playing Saftety couldn't be any worse than Wilcox.

How bad is Wicox that he takes bad angles in Madden 16?
