May as well play him too, or at least some in the Commanders game.
Though I do not, think he or Moore is the future franchise QB. But still need to take a look.
My fear is that each will show enough that they will go into next TC and let these 2 compete for backup QB. We do need to need that, we need a QB to groom. But still need to take a look in case that is the way it works out over the off season.

Deactivate Cassel for the game. Go with the young ones and see what the heck happens. Can't be much worse then what we have been seeing. FWIW, both of these young guys don't seem to have the deer in the headlight looks we seem to have seen this year from our more experience back ups.

I read where they have had him playing safety and STs on the scout team. Kinda hard to develop into a NFL level QB if that's how you're spending your time.

Yeah. It wouldn't be fair to him to throw him out at QB unless as the emergency QB or a trick play.

I really hope Garrett makes him the backup to Kellen Moore and not just a special teams guy. I thought he was the best backup in preseason by far. The guy reminds me so much of Russell Wilson.

Russell Wilson? Didn't see that.

He was never going to develop into a NFL level QB

They activated him to do what? He hasn't even been playing QB at practice. They use him as a safety in the practice squad. I actually do like him as a QB but they have mismanaged him on the practice square so much that he's not ready to be a QB anymore.

It will be fun to see Showers, on ST if nothing else. He has a lot of physical talent, I may be alone on it but I like the idea of developing him as a Safety.

He actually has taken snaps as QB in practice. The special teams, and safety stuff was just reported because he did that as well.
A source I have who's an insider w the team (I know that sounds really really cheesy) told me a few weeks ago to keep an eye out for Jameil Showers which is why I made a thread about him not too long ago.
He says Showers has actually impressed coaches when given the opportunity, and that we'd probably see him moved up when eliminated from playoff contention.
He didn't go as far as to say Showers is our QB of the future or that he's some hidden gem that we're Waiting to unleash on the league. Just said there's enough talent to look at him a bit harder. Said he shows poise in the pocket and has very nice athletic ability.
So he's not just been doing safety and special teams work.

Having a guy like showers can actually help the overall roster. If he develops into a special teams guy like Joe Webb, it also means you essentially have a #3/emergency QB on the active roster with actual QB ability. You're not tossing in the WR or Punter that played a little QB in HS. Having a guy that can work as depth at several positions (offense and defense) can help open up an extra slot for Oline or Dline depth later.

Nobody's expecting him to come in and be a world beater. but, if he can be developed as a QB, that's even better. Tony Romo took time to develop. Not saying he's the next Tony Romo, but if we can develop a backup QB from within that knows the system solid...that's a good thing

What's it like to have your own insider to get this kind of information from? I like Shower and hope he gets a chance to shine in the regular season. I just was under the impression he wasn't getting snaps. Thanks for the heads up.
