lol no.. More like Casey Pachall or some other lucky UDFA.

Seriously though.. Kid is gonna be the 1st overall pick.. Team is too good to be that bad anytime in the next 3 or 4 years and to trade for it would require a team who is somehow terrible but has good QB play coupled with giving up at least 3 1st rounders...

Hate to look at things this way, but anything can happen.....I'm sure the Colts didn't think they could end up with Luck in their future either.

Barring injuries to Romo, hopefully our future is with some guy we took later in the draft than Winston might be taken (keeping in mind Winston's stock could drop also). I, for one, don't want to have to endure a 1-15 season to get our next QB, which is also why I believe we should be developing the QB position at all times.....including right now maybe in this upcoming draft.

Yes but the colts had a horrible backup QB and no talent on either side of the ball other than a few aging players (Wayne, Mathis, Freeney) This team with Kyle orton as its starter still probably wins 5.. probably wins 3 with Tanney.. No chance they pull a 1-15.. I'm with you on trying to develop a QB.. But it is gonna require taking a flyer on some guys.. To be honest I would rather trade a 2nd and a 6th or something for a guy like Ryan Mallett and let him sit 3 years before I would wanna go 1-15 or trade 3 first rounders for a QB. (Not saying specifically Ryan Mallett so I don't wanna argue him as an individual simply making the point about a talented young QB who has not yet found a lasting home)

Well, if you would rather trade for one, fine by me. The situation needs to be addressed, and I would rather do it the way the Packers, Seahawks, or Niners did it (later picked QBs) than go the route of losing 15 games for that top drafted QB. Would we win 5 with Orton, who knows but he wasn't winning many when he was starting in Denver, thats for sure.

As the most important position on the field, thought on the future at QB should always be high on the mind of a franchise whose starter is over 30.....even though Romo is in the midst of a career year.

People are talking about restructuring Romo both in 2014 and 2015.

If both restructures occurred, his cap number would be $20.8M and cutting him would result in $31M in dead money.

2017 Cap Number: $24M with $19M in dead money if cut.

2018 Cap Number: $26M with $9M in dead money if cut.

Winston is gonna be in the 2017 draft or 2016 if he declares early? Doubtful Dallas would be bad enough to even have the pick on their own so they'd have to bundle up for the pick. On top of that they'd have to take the best case scenario that he stays all 4 years so they'd only have to deal with $19M in dead money?

Good luck.

You heard it here first. 3 years from now he will lead us from the darkness. Phenomenal talent and leader.

PM me with your proposition. I'll give you generous odds. I like taking candy/money from babies.
