Patron has a home.
The pit bull that belongs to Steelers linebacker James Harrison was scheduled to be put down after he bit Mr. Harrison's son, James Harrison III, along with the boy's mother and a friend. But in the last few days Mr. Harrison has sought to find a home for his dog. His agent, Bill Parise, said Mr. Harrison insisted the
dog not be placed in a home with children or with an owner who intended to use him for fighting.
The new owner, who has not yet picked up the dog from Triangle Pet Control in McKees Rocks where he has been since the attack on May 20, is a woman who specializes in rehabilitating pit bulls, said Mr. Parise. He declined to identify her or say whether she lives locally or elsewhere. The woman may keep the dog herself after she has worked with him, or she might adopt him out, Mr. Parise said.
Mr. Parise said he consulted with Best Friends, the sanctuary in Utah that took in former Atlanta Falcolns quarterback Michael Vick's dogs, and that they spoke highly of the woman and her abilities to work with pit bulls.
