Jane Slater: Cowboys not in mix right now for Kupp

Are there any Cowboys fans out there that thought for one second they would be in the mix? I sure didn’t.

Kupp is not washed. He’s still a very good receiver but injuries have limited him.
Hasn’t broken 1000 yards in three years. 32 hard pass .

The reason we sucked last year is our wide receivers Can’t get off the line of scrimmage.

I wouldn’t take Hampton at 12 but I wouldn’t go past the 2nd round without an RB. We should pick up a quality FA to cover ourselves.
I do all these mock draft simulators Im practically addicted to them and I can always get hampton in round 2. Im like I wish that aint happening. Not re-upping Jlew has made the draft a bit more problematic

I have no idea if Kupp would be a good target, but the sheer arrogance of this front office is just amazing. I think we all wanted to see some creativity this offseason. The fanbase is pissed off after last years offseason, and the front office answer to this is instead of waiting two weeks to dumpster diving, they dumpster diving on the first day. They are so bad at their jobs.

Come on dude. The Cowboys traded for Mingo because every receiver on the roster except for CeeDee was a disappointment. Bad trade yeah but you guys act like a 4th round pick is gold. It’s nothing. If Mingo played great (impossible because Dak never played with him) we still would be looking for a receiver early.
A 4th round pick can be gold. Dak, Pollard and Shultz were 4th round picks. Mingo was a bust in Carolina and was a disappointment for us, If he had produced and showed he could replace Cooks we wouldn’t have a need at WR with a high pick.

I agree with old Leatherface on this one. Kupp is slow as molasses and Ivory Springs washed. Stay away.

Mainly due to injuries. He’s missed a lot of games but that doesn’t mean he’s washed. He’s not what he was but still a very good receiver when healthy.

I’m good with not signing Kupp. He’s older, injury prone and will be expensive.

But the idea of Kupp was at least the Cowboys were going to use the salary they freed up to go out and try to get a difference maker. But of course not.

Why?
Because you want them to sign an often injured WR because he is a name.
I think it's because Cowboys fans are tired of the same story of not making any significant outside moves, while watching our division rivals do so. The fans are desperate for something, anything to be excited about. When you're starving, even a stale cracker tastes good. Although I didn't want them to sign Kupp, I do understand why more than a few fans did.

Yeah. When he plays, he's still good. The issue is that you can't expect him to play all 17 games. He hasn't done it the past three seasons. Still, I want to improve our No. 2 spot in free agency or through a trade, so I'd be happy to have him over some veteran who hasn't proven he's even worthy of being a No. 2.
