Jane Slater: Cowboys not in mix right now for Kupp

I do all these mock draft simulators Im practically addicted to them and I can always get hampton in round 2. Im like I wish that aint happening. Not re-upping Jlew has made the draft a bit more problematic
Id go wr 1, if jeanty is gone and Judkins, Henderson or Johnson 2nd or 3rd

Get Kupp… don’t get Kupp… doesn’t matter either way … question is … why did they free up 50mill??? To prove they could??? Soooo incompetent

I wouldn’t take Hampton at 12 but I wouldn’t go past the 2nd round without an RB. We should pick up a quality FA to cover ourselves.
That's the problem if we need both a starting receiver and starting corner. We stand a better chance of getting a starting-quality running back in the third.

If we get a No. 2 receiver in FA or a third corner/temporary starter, I'd definitely take a running back in the first or second. At this point unless Jeanty is there, I'd probably take either WRs McMillan or Golden or CBs Barron or Johnson. I think those are the best values at positions of absolute need. I'm not opposed to Hampton there, but I think his value is below those players.

Ideally, I'd prefer to get a stud DT in the first, but our front office does not often put us in an ideal situation, and I don't know if there is going to be any who are a value at No. 12.

The only positions I'd rule out of the first is OL (we need to see what we've got), TE, QB and S, and TE is iffy because of Tyler Warren.

Henderson and Johnson should be there at 44 but neither will be there at 76. I wouldnt scoff at WR in round 1 i welcome it. I think CB is gonna be in the first 2 rounds though as its a need now as well

At 12 or with a trade back sets up good for receiver with McMillan, Emeka Egbuka, Golden, and Burden to chose from. Emeka Egbuka is about as safe a pick as there is. He is solid.
I would rather get the safety.

Grab a WR later. Or sign Kupp. Depending on his price. Kupp, Lamb, Cooks isnt bad.

Getting a generational safety could help this defense in a big way. Then grab a DT in the second, RB in the third.

A 4th round pick can be gold. Dak, Pollard and Shultz were 4th round picks. Mingo was a bust in Carolina and was a disappointment for us, If he had produced and showed he could replace Cooks we wouldn’t have a need at WR with a high pick.
I hear you but again all this started when Jerry chose Gallup over Cooper. The plan was Cooks to be a quality 3.

How is Mingo a bust for us when he played a handful of games with a backup quarterback and lame duck coach. Mingo gets his chance this season.

Safety play has been our biggest liability IMO

They have been terrible

Yeah. When he plays, he's still good. The issue is that you can't expect him to play all 17 games. He hasn't done it the past three seasons. Still, I want to improve our No. 2 spot in free agency or through a trade, so I'd be happy to have him over some veteran who hasn't proven he's even worthy of being a No. 2.
He won’t play all 17 games and his injury history is keeping us away from him. We have enough injury prone players.

They just reupped Osa and picked a round 1 DT in Mazi. plus they picked upa dollar store DT I wouldnt expect a DT until pick 76 or later

The plan was for Cooks to be a quality number two. Rush wasn’t terrible and Mingo did nothing. We saw why Carolina moved on from him.

You made up your mind. Agree to disagree. 24 year old bust.

When a team trades a former 2nd round pick for a 4th after only a season and a half, they’re a bust. He did nothing for us and probably won’t be here long.

Sooooo we moved money around to free up cap to do what just sign parsons and hope the 1st round pick can save the day from the jump at WR, LB, DT, RB and OLine?

So many holes to fill and this team did nothing

Steven said they will be selectively aggressive. They left the aggressive part out.

You know that off of less than a half season with the Cowboys, no training camp, different coaching staff and no Dak. Wow. Like I said you are stuck. Two years of team control. Mingo will get an opportunity.

Amari Cooper came in and immediately made an impact after we traded for him. Mingo reminds me of when we traded for Roy Williams during the season and he did nothing and never did. Hated the Mingo trade the day we made it.
