Jane Slater: Cowboys not in mix right now for Kupp

Seriously, what is going on with this front office?

You can not convince me Brandon Carr and Greg Hardy on a 1-year deal caused this.
Stephen has more influence now and he's cheap. Cheap and cowardly. Too scared and too miserly to take a chance on a player who might cost more and be a longer commitment.

The worst part is, some milquestoast local media member will meekly ask about this and he'll give the same generic non-answer about Dak and CeeDee taking all the pie like he always does and that will be that until we do it again next year.

Yea but who's to say they will work out?. They need to fill holes with CAPABLE PROVEN guys then draft BPA
This draft has several really good reciever prospects. They aren’t gonna all be gone in 11 picks. If they are mean maybe the best DT false and then you go get a vet or draft one in second. I think maybe 2 WR at the most go before we pick

Is it not okay to do both and have enough weapons? This team literally has 1 weapon.
You aren’t gonna pay Kupp and use the top pick on the same position. If they sign Kupp they aren’t taking anything out WR early and there’s a very good chance we get a really good prospect at 12, maybe the best

Despite trade for Mingo, and invested in Tolbert & Flournoy,.. i still expect the search for a No.2 WR very early in the NFL draft. (within first 3 rounds)

Ditto with a new starting RB within first two rounds.. in according to the value of McClay's draft board of course.

I think 1 goes MAYBE

I’m surprised the Zone is complaining we don’t want Kupp. I’d be infuriated if we paid him an 8 figure deal - he is washed. All the evidence you need is Rams dumping him to sign Davante without any talks of him staying. His gameplay does not bode well with age & has been in steep decline. Thanks Cowboys for staying away from this.

I'm not sure right now that we do. Based on our FA signings, I'd count WR, CB and LB as our top needs at the moment.

At WR, the only starting player we have is Lamb. Turpin can probably be a No.3, but none of them have shown they can be a No. 2, which is a starting position. At corner, the only starter we have is Bland. At LB, Liufau is the only starter, at least until Overshown gets back. We can count Parsons there on some downs (maybe).

At all other positions, we have a starter. We may need to upgrade, like at RB, but there is a starting plan in place.

I hope the needs change before the draft because there are other positions I'd prefer to draft early, but I can't see any others where there is an absolute need.
Turpin is a gadget 4. We have no 2 or 3 atm.

Shelter says Dallas has emerged as a sleeper team for Kupp and is making a push to sign him
I saw this. Have a hard time believing the Cowboys will actually get involved in a bidding war.

We may be kicking the tires, but there's no way they're gonna pay the price it takes to get Kupp.

It annoys the crap out of me that they have no problem making moves to keep their heads above water but refused to do so to get over the top.

Further proof that being “relevant” every season is the only goal.

Jerry and his act is about to finally be exposed. The floodgates from ex players seem to be opening wider. Something like 2-6 is going to unleash some ugliness that’s fully deserved in the coming months.

Signing Kupp is a win-now move which only tells me they are still very unaware as to where they are as a franchise.
