Jane Slater interview about Dez

Yeah, because you guys cannot deal with his diminished results, or a guy heralded as the next 88, coming into his eighth year deciding to get serious about running crisp routes. Yeah, that isn't important.

If he worked as hard as Irvin did, then he would be the player he was drafted to be. He didn't, he ain't, he's gone.
CHURCH!

I can't believe CZ is still going back & forth about this dude.

He was a 24th overall pick that set his franchises receiving TD record. Tell me again how he didn’t live up to being the 24th player drafted.

I guess you didn't read the part where he has not worked on his route running skills where he becomes a better receiver than just the jump ball. I put it in my comments.

Here, I copied it from my post you responded to.

That Seattle game, he was pouting and *****ing like a school girl. IN THE SECOND QUARTER.

Most of his sideline antics weren't positive. They were distracting. I go to the games, and I sit on that sideline. When he's in full rant, everybody just walks away from him.
The Seattle game was when I'd had enough. The drops, the fumble and this was all after pissing and moaning for the ball. He was actually kneeling on the sideline shaking his head.
And we were winning!

What do these guys practice on during the season or at all of the mandatory training sessions during the offseason?

These coaches had enough time to teach Dez to run routes.

I don't think Dez is a great route runner but he's not a bad route runner either.

He's a predictable route runner and that I blame on his playcaller.

I bet you wanted us to sign watkins...

You know, a guy who really didn’t live up to what was given up for him and where he was drafted. But you rag on dez

You would lose money.

I wanted the team to draft Dez the year he came out.

But I also see that Dez was a product of Romo, and after a few years, he did not get better as far as skill set. Romo made him what he was. He had talent. But at this level, they all have talent. He did not work hard to become the best.

I don't know you, so I will not assume anything about you.

But there are a great deal of kids on this site who have no idea who Michael Irvin was other than an outspoken TV guy. He was a guy who grabbed the third string quarterback and rant routes after practice. Darren Woodson, another guy the kids have no clue about, was quoted that he say Irvin run that slant until he threw up.

Irvin would talk shate to the defense in practice, including Deion and beat them all day long. "Whose gonna step up."

Irvin was as much if not more important to this team winning, even with Smith and Aikman. What he did by showing what it took to be the best, and then making the defense get serious in practice is one reason, and a major reason why this team won three championships in the 90's.

If Dez had Irvin's grit to be the best, he would still be here. Instead he decides to get serious about running routes now. That is not a leader. That is a guy riding a paycheck.

I disagree.

Romo made him what we all thought he was. Romo pushed him and put the ball where he could win. His disappearing in games indicates his lack of complete immersion in being the best.

I have told this several times. I went to training camp one of the years they were in San Antonio. They practices in the arena where the Spurs play. The first team was practicing plays and Dez is off with a coach who was holding the play book. The coach would say something and Dez would indicate what he was going to run. The coach would shake his head and how him the book. You make of that what you will. But they spent almost an hour repeating this over and over.

Really good interview about Dez and how his teammates felt about him.

Alfred Morris saying he was a great locker room guy.

I got this vid from ****NOT-AN-OFFICIAL-SOURCE*** btw.

I think the Dez release was financial.
Future cost/benefit stuff.

I do think they are wanting Dak to have full control to grow going forward, but it'd be speculation to say that was a driving factor.

I think I want a little of that with my QB though. It feels different when it is a multi-time super bowl winning QB getting frustrated with overall execution and playcalling versus a WR wanting the ball.

Not when it only highlights your teammates mistakes. your not talking about you making a play or wanting to make a play and all you’re doing is criticizing your teammates.

It's an emotional sport. I don't get why so many people are surprised when a player loses it for a brief moment. It's part of the game.

Either they never played it, or they don’t understand the very intense competitive nature of it.

Right, I feel they want Dak’s voice to be the loudest.

I heard Fish say that Garrett pretty much hand picks the captains and really doesn't go by who the players vote for.

I guess the year before last we only had 5 captains and whoever was the 6th captain Garrett just didn't give him the C.

Also, he made the point about Garrett calling the league and trying to get a 7th captain which would've been Frederick and making the point that who would've voted for Dan Bailey as a captain. Most likely not the players..

Dez was a hard worker. If he's not running good routes I would blame it on the coaches teaching him how to run them.

Regardless.. I think the whole Dez route thing was another false narrative put about by Mr. Anonymous Jason Garrett. There is plenty of videos of Dez clearly running good routes and getting open. This is while the defense knowing basically what route he will run.

TO wasn't the best route runner either. Just get him the ball and let him work. That's what Dez should've been more of here.

We've gone through WR after WR here. They always get the blame at the end of the day. When will it be the coaches turn?

I understand you don’t like Garrett, but I don’t believe Garrett was all in on Dez leaving, Broddaus has said he was last to be convinced to let Dez go, It was Linehan INMO who put out that narrative.

I'm not sure why fans need to make this about his personality anyway. He definitely had some maturity issues, but I don't at all think he was a cancer that was destroying team unity. I think this was mainly about performance vs. pay grade, and "may" (guess only) have a little to do with lack of discipline on the field (not running precise routes, taking plays off when he wasn't the primary target etc ).

So calling out the coaches and team captains and saying I want to play for an NFCE competitor isn't cancerous? Ok. Lol.

Oh I agree about Linehan. I'm sure Linehan and Stephen Pioneered this thing.

That had nothing to do with Dez, Fish also reported Linehan was the guy who didn’t like Dez and Dooley. Now they both are gone....hmmm

Gawd...lol..PLEASE no more Dez stuff guys! lmao..you all are killin me. I promise to stop replying! Jeesh..Its like AS THE WORLD TURNS!
