I'm surprised this hasn't gotten more air play.

Anyway, Ben & Skin (105.3 The Fan, Dallas) interviewed Giants Pro Bowl CB, Janoris Jenkins the other day.
 Nothing directly bad about the Cowboys in general, but let's just say he said a few things that might ruffle some feathers.

No direct quotes here, but in general, here are a few notes:
Dont shoot the messenger.

Dez part 1
Jenkins, who is now rated a top 4 CB in the league, said his job is to follow Dez everywhere and shut him down.
Asked how he felt he did, he said look at the stats...he dominated.
Btw, I checked it out and on paper, hes right.
Total domination both games....and Giants wins.
Game 1....1 catch for 8 yards.
Game 2...1 catch for 10 yards on a whopping 9 targets
Wow

Dez part 2
Jenkins says Dez runs mostly only 3 routes and there's not much mystery about it.
Because Dez is not especially fast, it helps even more.
And because hes not a brilliant route runner, well, that helps even more.
Sure sounds like, ad many here say, Dallas needs to be more creative.

Dak and Tony
Garrett and Linehan has nicely said that against the Giants in particular, Dak had trouble telling when they were in zone or man. And in general, Spagnola was able to confuse him.
So Ben/Skin asked Jenkins what he thought. He laughed and said absolutely. No doubt. They felt confident that Dak was confused and they had the upper hand. He again mentioned that they won both games and generally shut down Dallas (the games were close because Dallas' defense did well too).
Then they asked if he would've felt the same with Romo playing. His face got serious and he said no, that guys like Brady, Romo, and Brees (his words) would see the disguises quickly....that it would be way harder.
Fwiw, in the last 4 years Dallas is 5-0 with Romo and 0-3 without him vs the Giants.

Imo, thats now old news, the page is turned, Dak is our QB, and he will get better vs New York.

Just surprised there hasnt been more said about the Dez stuff.

Surprised? We've already heard this about Dez. It's not new.
Of course we've heard it onhere plenty.
Surprised that there haven't been articles in the paper or mention on here, simply because he came out and publically said it.

Not surprised of the content...just that he said it.

Sounds to me like Dez might be the problem

I would hope Romo would be harder to confuse then a rookie. Ben and Skin are Romo marks. Go to YouTube and watch the 4 quarter of the 2007 playoff vs Spagnola:Romo was totally unglued

The Giants didn't confuse anybody in the first game. The Cowboys went up and down the field on them. The Cowboys settled for FG. Some credit to the Giants. A lot to do with opening day not fully in sync

A better comparison to ask(especially since it looks like Dak is the Cowboys guy) would've been how would you compare him to Carson Wentz? Since you seen them both twice.(JJ)

But hey, how does he compare to a 14 year veteran. I guess

Fair enough.
I think we're still mourning one and done. :(

I'd like to see Dez's numbers with Romo throwing to him vs other QB's throwing to him. Seems like Romo and Dez had a great connection, and it is difficult for other QB's to find that same success with Dez. This is probably true because of Dez's lack of separation, but Romo had an understanding with Dez that if he threw it in a certain area despite the lack of separation Dez would make the play. Lets not act like Dez is not a beast.

On all of these plays besides the YAC v Washington Dez has someone draped on him, but he makes plays that few receivers can make if the QB puts it in a spot where he can go get it.

I remember when the Cowboys beat Green Bay up at GB in 2008, the next day Leroy Butler made headlines when he said Aaron Rodgers was better than Romo. I believe this was Rodgers third or fourth start and he was awful in this game.

Would've been nice to get a Dak vs Wentz opinion from someone who went up against both.

I thought Butler was off his rocker at the time, but history proved otherwise.

Butler's words and laughs:http://cowboyszone.com/threads/json...s-pack-rodgers-better-than-romo-merge.129178/

And to think Dak's first game as a pro (against the Giants no less) he should have won.

Of only TWill....

You can be darn certain the Cowboys coaches would like to expand Dez with his route tree.
Well... he's going into his 7 or 8 season... only knows a handful of routes... don't think there will be much improvement on that front.

That game should have never come down to that play. TWill was the least of our problems that night. Lets talk about the two dropped TD passes by Dez and Beasley. Janoris can talk all the crap he wants, but he knows we could have easily won the 1st game and the 2nd game the Giants made ONE big play.....
