Janoris Jenkins talks Cowboys on Ben & Skin

When one gets right down to the cold, hard facts, nobody knows if Dez will ever shake his tendency to disappear for stretches in each and every season since his introduction into the league. Lord knows he's had plenty of time to cure his difficulties by now. Let's just say it remains to be seen if he ever manages to resolve his limitations and leave it at that. He surely has yet to prove his problems will be resolved with additional effort and experience. I'm sure we're all hoping such a turnaround materializes but I'm not overly optimistic it'll happen at this late date. It is what it is, imho.

I'm surprised this hasn't gotten more air play.

Anyway, Ben & Skin (105.3 The Fan, Dallas) interviewed Giants Pro Bowl CB, Janoris Jenkins the other day.
 Nothing directly bad about the Cowboys in general, but let's just say he said a few things that might ruffle some feathers.

No direct quotes here, but in general, here are a few notes:
Dont shoot the messenger.

Dez part 1
Jenkins, who is now rated a top 4 CB in the league, said his job is to follow Dez everywhere and shut him down.
Asked how he felt he did, he said look at the stats...he dominated.
Btw, I checked it out and on paper, hes right.
Total domination both games....and Giants wins.
Game 1....1 catch for 8 yards.
Game 2...1 catch for 10 yards on a whopping 9 targets
Wow

Dez part 2
Jenkins says Dez runs mostly only 3 routes and there's not much mystery about it.
Because Dez is not especially fast, it helps even more.
And because hes not a brilliant route runner, well, that helps even more.
Sure sounds like, ad many here say, Dallas needs to be more creative.

Dak and Tony
Garrett and Linehan has nicely said that against the Giants in particular, Dak had trouble telling when they were in zone or man. And in general, Spagnola was able to confuse him.
So Ben/Skin asked Jenkins what he thought. He laughed and said absolutely. No doubt. They felt confident that Dak was confused and they had the upper hand. He again mentioned that they won both games and generally shut down Dallas (the games were close because Dallas' defense did well too).
Then they asked if he would've felt the same with Romo playing. His face got serious and he said no, that guys like Brady, Romo, and Brees (his words) would see the disguises quickly....that it would be way harder.
Fwiw, in the last 4 years Dallas is 5-0 with Romo and 0-3 without him vs the Giants.

Imo, thats now old news, the page is turned, Dak is our QB, and he will get better vs New York.

Just surprised there hasnt been more said about the Dez stuff.

Those of us paying attention know this about Dez and were against paying him his monster contract

Does it really matter how many routes Dez can run when the coaches will make him run a go route 70% of the time? No wonder Dez is always gassed in the second half.
Was going to say the same thing, there's nothing preventing the coaching staff from implementing more than 3 routes to his route tree. People point to Dez, I point to the coaches complacent offense and lack of coaching effort or innovation to get your best player on O(besides Zeke) the ball. Lazy coaching. TO ran crap routes too...had the whole tree open to him and produced anyway? That was Sparano's offense though...

They definitely weren't crisp and he was not known as a great route runner? Crap routes may have been harsh (like TO for what he gave us, etc.); just first word that popped in my head.

Defensive players have been saying the same thing for awhile about the Dallas offense. It's a simple system at its core, which makes it predicable.

We will see how well he does against a healthy Dez next year..

2014 6 rec 89 yds 1 TD Dez vs J. Jenkins

Janoris needs to run the ST LOUIS RAMS TAPE. Those routes looked pretty good then LOL.

I thought it was already proven Dez ran like 15 different routes against the Giants

Bryants limits are well known. Its no mystery. He has never been a route runner and never will be. His strength is in the redzone where he can use his power and size to get tough catches. WR don't win SB's and are all grossly overpaid. Jerry always overpays for sizzle players.

These sorry CBs talking about a WR that has injuries to his foot & knee the last two years..smh..I can't wait until next year...

I'd Dez responds to this it'll show he still hasn't learned. Worry about winning not your stats. Check that ego. If his ego is that out of control that he has to respond he better be working on his craft right now and not waiting until camp. The ego and work ethic have to add up

Its always been easy to get under Bryants skin. All the big name corners work at it. This is part of Jenkins remarks and be sure one way or the other Bryant will take the bait.
