I like that era much better. Late 60's to late 70's was the golden era for the league IMO.

That was before they ruined the game with instant replay, incessant penalties and by making defense near impossible to play. I don't celebrate big plays or touchdowns anymore, first thing I do is wait to see if there is a flag or if it will be overturned by IR, it's taken a lot of the fun out of the game. Jerry Glanville was right, NFL stands for "No Fun League".

Modern High Definition television (and with 10 cameras at every game with incredible slow mo shots) would pretty much would have forced the need for instant reply eventually.

Yep. I was so sick of hearing about the Orange crush
Glad we took care of that.

Those people were all over New Orleans, everywhere I went, especially on game day...the streets were crawling with 'em. I was so worried the stadium was going to be nothing but Broncos fans. But, no...America's Team was represented well in the Superdome that day. That fluorescent orange just stood out over everything else though. I'm really glad that's not our color!!

Unfortunately, the TD would have been overturned in today's NFL.

So would the Preston Pearson catch against the Rams in the playoffs a few years before. I think it was the year of Super Bowl 10.

Whenever I watch old games on YouTube it is interesting that the refs did such a good job back then. It may just be my perception.

It was the 1975 NFC Championship game against the rams and your probably right, same with the Drew Pearson 4th down catch in the Hail Mary game. Other possible overturns the Immaculate Reception, Sea of Hands throw by Stabler when he may have been down, the Holy Roller with Casper pushing ball into end zone......

In other words, some of the most memorable historic plays of all time.

I became a Cowboys fan the following season which ended in the heartbreak of Super Bowl XIII, but seeing the Super Bowl XII highlights always makes me feel like I watched it live. Ironically I became a fan because of charismatic players like Tony Dorsett and Tony Hill, not because they were Super Bowl champs.

Even back then, I always thought that catch was suspect.

You mean like how the announcers now yell TD, no flags,,,
