Tomorrow, it will be more than 20 years since our last Super Bowl.

I wonder who I can thank for two DECADES of futility...

It's really no excuse for the drought. There are fans that say teams go through this but they are incorrect. Only bad and unorganized teams hit long droughts.

This team should have three more Super Bowls by now.

I really feel sorry for Jerry, if he used his money and desire to win at all costs and just hired some football people he would have 2 or 3 more superbowls by now and he'd be looked on as a brilliant owner like Kraft. Oh well, we'll get there sooner or later

Barry Switzer wins a superbowl, and it's because of the players not the coaching. We lose our two best players and its coaching, not the players. I think I got it.

Have we been that much better these last 20 seasons that we could be smug about it?

Detroit won more games than us last season.

And let's be honest here, if all we have to cheer ourselves up is we're not Cleveland or Detroit I think that's pretty depressing.

Yeah our cupboards are just empty over the last 20 years, what's the difference really?

As great as it was then, I think this Super Bowl was probably one of the worst things that could have happened to the organization.

It was done without Jimmy Johnson, but with Jimmy Johnson's players that still had Jimmy Johnson's mentality.

What the win did was give Jerry Jones the idea that he can do it without Johnson, that he could do it.... that it was him, not Johnson.

So in the subsequent 20 years, Jerry Jones has been forever trying to re-create that team. And every time Dallas does well, Jerry thinks "we're close" and that he can still do it, can still re-create that "winning formula."

at least that's how I see it.

I have to agree.

I also think Jerry got into his head that talent alone could win it all (i.e. the team won in spite of not because of Switzer).

However in the modern era with the salary cap and free agency means that good coaching comes to the fore as you can't stockpile players as you could before.

Equally you have to pick a scheme and stick with it. That way it makes it easier to identify players that can actually play for you (irrespective of what raw talent they have).

I thoughts are apparent. I've stated them over and over and over again over the last 15 or so years.

Thank you Jerry Jones for all you've done. Now please move on and hire some people who know football. You've already proven that you can't ... over and over and over again.

JMO, but I think we would have won 4 Super Bowls in a row if Jimmy Johnson had stayed. I honestly believe, the first NFC Championship game that Barry Switzer coached in against San Fran (which we lost), would have had a different ending with Jimmy at the helm. Of course those teams were before the salary cap. Switzer wasn't a great NFL Coach, he was lucky to be the HC in the era of great Cowboy players...that Jimmy had drafted.

I do subscribe to the theory in the salary cap era, that good or great coaching does make a difference.

I don't disagree with you...but, that first quarter was brutal, maybe jimmy coaching it doesn't. Troy threw some horrible passes. I don't know how you coach that. And of course the obvious PI on Deion I think we win that game, no one was stopping Emmitt at the 10 yard line
