pissed off.

Agreed, I feel Hatcher/Bowen can fill the spot just fine. We have far more pressing needs in a FS or OL.

I could see this happening on draft day after all this anticipation of a glamour pick.

The guy is basically unblockable so it wouldn't shock me if Dallas pulls a fast one and goes with this guy.

How will you feel if he is our 1st round pick?

Not really good, we have four 3-4 DE's that can play.

I guess I should also say if the team has Odrick rated much higher than other players while we're on the clock and also have no option to trade down, then picking him shouldnt be a problem. I wouldnt pick him though if we had several guys rated about the same though.

Not complaints at all. We have no idea if Bowen can be a full time starter, Hatcher has showed very little with his opportunities, We dont know much about Dixon and I honestly believe Spears is playing his last season in Dallas. It's a little too late to address the position when it becomes a need.

Ordick can play DT or DE, provides great depth, good character, a non stop motor and versatility.

When the time comes, if he is the highest rated player on the Cowboys board it would be a great value pick.

Those of you dreaming of a FS in the first round or reaching for a OL not named Iupati can just find something else to do on draft day because your going to be highly upset.

I'd be okay with it, as long as he actually freaking plays. If the staff likes him then I like him. I'd rather a few other positions, but I don't know ****.

Say what you want but of Earl Thomas is somehow there and we don't take him, that would be ridiculous.

Maybe you missed the part of my post that stated

I think that is pretty self explanatory.

They will be because Earl Thomas will be way off the board by the time the Cowboys draft. They are not going to reach for anyone else at #27 not to mention I can almost promise you any team that drafts Thomas is looking at him to play CB and not FS.

Does he just not seem like a pick that makes a lot of sense?

I would rather trade down but this guy is so good that I doubt Dallas would pass.

He looks like a heck of a prospect. I'd be happy with him. It's not often a player rated as high as him can play DE in the 3-4. He'll probably be a hot commodity on draft day, since he can play in any scheme. Might be gone by the time Dallas is on the clock. I've got a friend who is a die hard PSU fan and has said JO was the best player on the team the past 2 seasons. I'll take that.

This is a weird year. It's not completely obvious what Dallas' biggest needs are. Is it O-Line? What if Free can play LT, do you really need to take a guy in the first? Safety? We don't seem to like him, but Hamlin doesn't seem to be going anywhere. Plus you have Ball, who could move there and has looked good. Then you have the WR talk, which confuses me. I'd still like to get Benn, but that's just me wanting my pet cat.

I'm sure the fact that your a Penn State fan has nothing to do with your strong feelings on this matter :) lol

I would be very upset if we took a DL with our first pick. I can't even lie about that. We have 3-4 positions that are more important and pressing then DE. We could probably get by with what we have in house.

Wouldn't it be smarter to just keep Spears for the low tender we gave him, address a position of NEED now and then worry about DE next year, meanwhile seeing what you have in house for one more year?

As a PSU fan I got to see more of Ordick then most but it has never clouded my judgment. Ordick is simply a player. I'm not interested in drafting Sean Lee, I'm only luke warm on Bowman.

2 of my favorite PSU prospects are Ordick and Quarless but I dont have delusional expectations because they played at Penn St.

I know one thing, no one has yet proven that these mythical 3 or 4 more pressing area of need are more pressing then DL. This is just another example that it's a good thing the fans dont run the clubs.

The only position that can be argued is a bigger need then DL would be OL and we have 5 returning starters there.

Just because the fans font like Hamlin does not mean Dallas sees it as a immediate position of need.

So the D-Line, where we also likely return every starter as well is more pressing as OL? Not sure I follow you on that page.

Kicker,Kick Returner, OT, FS,I'd even argue ILB is more important than DE right now.

I think you could make a fair and valid argument for every one of those spots over DE.

My logic being, that we have seen Hatcher and Bowen play. And both played pretty solid. We haven't seen anything behind our OL besides Free, we have seen we don't have a kicker or KR, we have yet to see if Williams can play ILB competently. We have a lot of spots where we are okay for now, but have no idea about the rest of the guys behind them.

DE is not one of those spots. I think Odrick is a great prospect, and I wouldn't HATE him, but I certainly don't want him in the first round.
