Jared Odrick

At no point last year did I think our DL was hurting us. I did about our secondary and OL.

What about after week 1 when 70% of the board thought our season was over because Tampa ran on us?

Thats exaggeration.

Plenty of people were willing to give them the benefit of the doubt bc of the humid TB weather.

We also have Dixon whos ready to make a push or be let go. Theres just not much to be excited about after Free. And thats w/ several OL spots set to need a new starter soon.

You can find bodies along the DL, its not as easy to find guys to protect your 30 year old franchise QB.

I agree. Stephen Bowen actually had more sacks then Spears. I think we'll be just fine with him and Hatcher is Spears leaves. But most likely Spears will be back. So there is no big need to address D-Line in the first round this year.

All im saying is if Iupati and Earl Thomas are gone don't be surprised if we pick this guy.

I would not do it but this just seems like a pick Dallas would make because he is such a stud and perfect fit.

Heck, dont be surprised if he is the pick and Earl and Iupati are still on the board.

I have a hard time thinking of a potential pick at our spot that would have as big of an impact as Odrick will year one. I think he'd help the pass rush as well, being able to slide inside one passing downs. I think if we get him, he'd be a guy that fans will love having on our team. There rarely are exciting 3-4 DE prospects.

Going by Dallas' recent draft history, we don't draft WRs or OLine in round 1. We don't seem to think safety is that big of a priority. Is Odrick the obvious pick then? It sorta seems like it. I wouldn't have a problem with it.

If Jared Odrick is the pick over Earl Thomas and Iupati, I will be completely flabbergasted. And I don't flabbergast easily. I am not at all prone to flabbergasting.

"Ordick" sounds like you're presenting a second option for a question I'm not sure I want to hear.

Also, of anyone in this class, Quarless has the potential to be Martellus Bennett Jr. In all facets of life.

As a PSU fan I got to see more of Ordick then most but it has never clouded my judgment. Ordick is simply a player. I'm not interested in drafting Sean Lee, I'm only luke warm on Bowman.

2 of my favorite PSU prospects are Ordick and Quarless but I dont have delusional expectations because they played at Penn St.

I would be surprised if Dallas took him over Iupati but not Thomas. Here is the bottom line, I love Earl Thomas but he is not physical enough to play safety for Dallas and I will say it again, he will be playing CB at the next level. He is just not what Dallas is looking for.

Step up then, I said I'd take that bet! What're the stakes?

Agreed, if he can keep his head on straight though the sky is really is the limit for this kid.

I wont make a physical bet but you did accomplish in making me take a mental note. If Nors was still around he would tell at some point I always cash in on those.;)

Kicker,Kick Returner, OT, FS,I'd even argue ILB is more important than DE right now.

So which Kicker, Kick returner or ILB would make you happy at #27? If Earl Thomas and Eric Berry are gone which FS would you like Dallas to reach for? If McClain is gone which ILB. I really want to know which Kicker!

Please I need the answer to those questions to better understand your argument.

As far as OL, Dallas has said Free is the future LT and Brewster was staying at RT. It's unlikely as history would point out and the current situation dictates that a OT will be drafted in Round 1. Which OG do you chose if Iupati is gone?

Again, I really need this answer to this question to understand your argument because all I have gathered is you would rather reach for a area of "need" (at least in the minds of the fans) then draft a solid prospect despite his position.

Well I was thinking more sig bet. I've got a pretty good history with sig bets as well, so unstoppable force, meet unmovable object! :laugh2:

Unlike Nors, I don't bang away randomly at my keyboard, btw.

That's fine, it can be what ever you want. I dont make sigs but I can have it done.

Whoa, look at you assuming you'll win! Not so fast there, tiger!

What is the timeframe we're talking about here, at what point do we decide what position he has been assigned, cause let's face it, we won't know for sure till opening day.

I would assume it would have to wait until or if he is named a starter and see where it is. Lets face it, his rookie season could consist of special teams coverage and spot duty at both positions unless he is named a starter at one of them.

As far as confident. Yes, very much so:D

That bet is a 50 50 chance for both sides.

He can play either position though no questions asked.

Are we even sure this guys any good

Official Bio

3 Stars. Round 2 or 3
Strengths:
Great size with a long frame --- Very good athlete --- Terrific speed and quickness --- Really fires off the snap --- Strong and powerful --- Active with a non-stop motor --- Does a nice job in pursuit --- Has a burst to close --- Uses his hands well --- Able to penetrate, get upfield and can collapse the pocket --- Aggressive --- Competitive --- Smart with superb instincts and awareness --- Hard worker --- Some schematic versatility.

Weaknesses:
Doesn't always play with proper leverage --- Not very agile and doesn't move well laterally --- Is not overly stout at the point of attack --- Feet go dead at times --- Gets neutralized by double-teams --- Has trouble getting off blocks once engaged --- Relatively average production and did not make a lot of impact plays --- Some minor durability concerns.

Notes:
Last name is pronounced "ODD-rick" --- Was a three-year starter for the Nittany Lions --- Earned All-American honors in 2009 --- Named 1st Team All-Big Ten in 2008 and 2009 --- The Big Ten Defensive Player and Defensive Lineman of the Year as a senior --- Season was cut short by a broken hand and ankle in '07 --- The type who does everything well but nothing great --- Could project to either defensive tackle (three-technique) in a 4-3 or defensive end (five-technique) in a 3-4 --- Not particularly flashy but offers a nice mix of physical tools and intangibles.
