I don't think it's laughable. We don't know what sort of person he really is. He
Might be a good father, he might not. He's not a dumb guy. He just is completely not committed to his team.

I agree he needs to go, though. That's obvious.

OMG please stop with the great dad stuff. He didnt want to show up for OTA's because he is lazy and uncommitted. Nothing to do with being a great father. That was all BS by Jones or McClain or whatever.

If this cat was a good father he wouldnt be screwing his way out of a job and he would be making sure he was a role model for his children. Not getting suspended every year for purple drank or whatever stupid drugs he is getting into. And NOT showing up for work when you get paid millions is another poor way to act as a father. Good fathers are good leaders and role models for their children. And dont even bother telling me "I dont know for sure"

I know it 100%. No more evidence needed.

I wonder if he gained this addiction to the meds from injuries he got while playing football.

It's crazy how society accepts some stuff and doesn't accept another.
Lil Wayne never played a down.

What you think you know and what's actually the case aren't necessarily the same things.

Jerry alluded to an arrangement with McClain that had him excused from non mandatory team events. It was agreed to in advance and apparently rationalized on the basis that he wanted that time with his young kids. Now, that might not have actually been McClain's reasons, but it's no stretch to think I guy could both love his kids and use recreational drugs and just not love football.

All we really know is that football is not important to him and he doesn't belong on the team. The rest doesn't really matter anyway.

Well we got the guy for little and got rewarded in 2014 with his play. 2015 and 2016 he reverted back to his old ways and picked up some very negative new ways to live.

We got a good season out of him so it wasn't a total loss but it's time to move on and be done with him. I hope for the best with him, I hope he cleans up, not because of football but for his life, his kids and his future.

Good Luck McClain but the Cowboys got to move on.

I don't think it's just a drug issue. Didn't he put a gun to a guy's head? We already know that he is susceptible to concussions. I would not be surprised if at some point they discover that he has cognitive damage quite possibly from playing football. The drug abuse may just be a coping mechanism.

I think he's actually a sharp dude based on listening to him in interviews while with the Raiders and Cowboys. What I do think is you have a guy who doesn't love the game, trapped in a body meant to play football; it's the thing in life he's actually good at and serves to pay the bills, but that's a dangerous ingredient list which usually results in lack of commitment, wandering and seriousness.

I think the difference between you and I is that I don't believe for one second that Jerry was being truthful. Never did, certainly don't know. McClain wasn't IMO excused from anything, he was just too messed up to bother and Jerry, being the eternal optimist, thought McClain would show up eventually and play well (probably for as many as 4 or 5 games, yay) and he didn't want everyone asking about him constantly - so he made something up. The coaching staff didn't appear to know anything about it, but they wouldn't since it was just Jerry lying to the press.

I think some people in this thread are simply taking issue with all of the fans who bought that nonsense hook line and sinker.

Can't give you the answer myself because with suspended players you (the team) doesn't receive a big cap-refund prior to the start of the season... It's more involved than that.
Thanks. I hope we get some money back since they are not playing. I understand that it is probably the way the contract is set up for each individual player.

Which completely jives with reports of how the Cowboys coaching staff was not happy with McClain missing OTAs.

You can love your kids and be a terrible father. Or you can ignore yor kids and be a terrible father.

It doesn't matter. Just his behavior and poor decisions makes him a terrible father.
