Time for me to own up for being wrong. I dogged this guy all season long last year as being a Rivera-esque free agent bust. This year however, he has been nothing short of spectacular. I know 3-4 NT's don't usually go the Pro Bowl but I can't imagine a better DT than him right now. He completely owns the middle of the line and is making plays behind the line. No offense to Ware but IMO Fergi is MVP of the Defense.

Fergy has been stalwart to say the least. I watch him closely for signs of fatigue and have noticed that late game he's not visibly winded, regardless of how often he's been rotated.

It's a credit to his conditioning/weight control, which Bill has always been on him about, but which ultimately falls on Jason's own shoulders. It hasn't been easy for him - he's naturally a much bigger guy, but he's learned self-discipline since he was a young'un with Bill in NY.

I really enjoy watching him...sometimes replay an entire game just to check out his lateral flexibility, his two-gapping prowess, and his repertoire of tackles.

The fact that Fergy's one of the league's true 'good guys' is also a reason to be happy for him. I was thrilled to see on the Thanksgiving Day game that Ferg, his wife Gena, and their child were chosen to represent the Cowboys in the Turkey day commercial 'team blessings'.

Jason, with his solid and sometimes inspired play, locker room leadership, fun loving spirit, and common sense, does the Dallas Cowboys proud.

I do hope he is one of those select free agents who manage to capture the hearts of Dallas fans as a "true Cowboy" - certainly he consistently documents what it means to be a 'professional' football player.

Love ya, Fergy. :)

Yeah he's been fantastic and our best run defender. exactly what you need from your NT in the 3-4 D

I saw a stat from Football Outsiders a few weeks ago that Dallas has the stingiest run defense in the NFL up the middle.

You would think that folks might slow down a little bit on calling guys busts.

Anthony Henry was the worst spent money, according to many here, when he was first signed. It took about two games for people to annoint him the best corner on the team. In truth, neither position was accurate.

Ferguson was called a free agent bust, and all the guy has done is control the middle of the line of scrimmage.

Rivera gets called a bust a lot, and I'll admit than I don't like to see my OLinemen get pushed back, but he's also a leader on that line, and Parcells seems to appreciate him.

Carpenter was a bust - until he got a sack and half last night.

The list goes on and on...

I just don't understand the need to rush to a conclusion. I mean, over time is becomes pretty obvious who the real busts are. It's not that important to say it first, is it?

Many on here are like the talking heads they have the need be to first to point something out hoping time shows that their wild speculation wasn't so wild.

Sweet, can I play too.

Romo stinks cause he wasn't drafted.
We should have taken Merriman instead of Ware.

Who can continue ?

As good as Ferg has been, we still need to find his replacement soon.

Ferg has been the only consistently good DL we've had all year. I'm thankful to him.

Now if Canty and Spears would just. follow. suit.

ditto. ferg is like nite and day compared with his last season. while spears/canty have been pretty much MIA... sophomore regression.

I thought Ferg played very poorly last season but he has been our only productive starter on the DL. We would truly be lost without him on defense. We really need to develop his backup, though.

Great post.

It's the way of the message board ... the loudest and most obnoxious usually gets the worm. Be level headed and understated and you will go greatly ignored. The self anointed back patting and the I-told-you-sos get nauseatingly boring real quick though.

The people that practice that posting style remind me of a lot of the sports media these days ... very quick to point out their victories but having very selective amnesia when it comes to their whiffs.

Throw a thousand pennies in the air and a couple are bound to come up tails sooner or later. But I dare some of us to have the audacity to not be truly amazed by such a genuine talent as making a 50% call ... uh 50% of the time.

You just need some private lessons in being loud, arrogant, self-rightous, boorish, and nasty.

I'll be happy to tutor you for a minimal fee.

HH a lot of things you would be the perfect tutor for I have no doubt.

But of those things you speak pardon me for saying so ... you'd be completely clueless.
