I challenge you, or anyone, to provide proof to support this claim.

Wade himself said it's absolutely not true.

This is nothing but an internet BS claim that gets stated and repeated enough times that people start to believe it.
He didn’t have to sabotage anything, they were both garbage and equally responsible for that mess. To pin it on just one while keeping the other for a full decade after that tells you the intentions! That situation was a joke!

You know you have a losing position when you resort to rewriting history.

Garrett inherited a bad team?

He took over halfway through the 2010 season after the team gave up on Wade.

In 2009, that same team won the division, they won a playoff game for the first time in 13 years, and they had 9 pro bowlers (5 of which who were All Pros including their QB and DE…..2 of the most important and difficult to obtain positions in football).

But you say that Garrett “inherited a bad team, rebuilt them, and made them competitive”?

In the real world, Garrett walked into an ideal ready-made situation, and he still couldn’t get the job done. Most new head coaches would have killed to be handed the reigns to the team that he inherited.
Idgit was the #1 Ginger defender on this board so its no surprise

No. Sorry, dude. That’s insane.

By definition: when a coach gets fired mid-season, his team is bad. Without exception. There’s literally no other reason for the coach to get fired.

It's cringey to even pretend to argue otherwise. They were 1-7. If you disagree, you’re just wrong and I’m sorry for that.

If you can get a commentating gig 9 out of 10 people will choose that over coaching. You get great money, lower hours, better quality of job.

Wow. Not only are you wrong……you are completely dead wrong.

Coaches get fired ALL the time for reasons other than just a bad team.

1). Sometimes a head coach sucks and can’t maximize a team’s ability (see 2019 Cowboys, 2023 A&M with Jimbo Fisher but top ranked receuits, numerous Texas Longhorn teams with tons of talent but crappy coaches, etc etc)

2). Sometimes a head coach has off the field issues and distractions (see the Jaguars with Urban Meyer, Raiders with Gruden, etc etc). Their firings had nothing to do with a “bad team” and everything to do with the head coach themselves.

I mean….wow. Did you even think before you posted?

On top of that, Garrett took over in 2019, and the Cowboys “bad team” miraculously and immediately turned it around and went 5-2 the rest of the season.

So no. The 2019 Cowboys were not a “bad team”. They had a terrible head coach in Wade Phillips that the team gave up on.

Check and mate…

Dude was so close to being a quality head coach. Couldn’t get over the hump.

Sorry, dude. Your argument is too weak to take seriously. 1-7= bad team. And, no, coaches do not get fired mid-season for reasons other than having a bad team. And Wade did not have a scandal like Gruden, so that red-herring is irrelevant. Wade was fired for being 1-7. Ie, having a bad team.

Also, Wade was not a “terrible coach.” You believe some really dumb things.

Also, you should consider learning the rules of chess.

You cannot be taken seriously.

You said that a coach ONLY gets fired mid season if the team is bad….without exception.

I subsequently gave you multiple examples of head coaches getting fired for reasons other than having bad teams.
You were wrong, so man up and admit it.

And if the Dallas Cowboys who just won the division, won a playoff game, and had 9 pro bowlers and 5 all pros were a “bad team”……how did they miraculously go 5-2 the rest of the year once Wade was replaced? Bad teams don’t all of a sudden have a miracle and go on a winning streak.

The Cowboys were 1-7 because they gave up on Wade. Jerry Jones desperately didn’t want to fire Wade mid season, but he literally didn’t have a choice because his team quit playing for Wade.

And if you are going to quote me, please quote me properly and stop being dishonest. Nowhere did I ever say that Wade was a “bad coach”.
If you were truthful (which you are not), I said that Wade was a “bad HEAD coach”.
Those are completely different things.

Wade was a fantastic defensive coordinator. But he was a terrible HEAD coach.

Garrett should’ve been fired the same day as Wade. Equally responsible! Even his crap *wins in 2010 were laughable. At his best with zero on the line. And a team still not cognizant enough to realize the pick becomes more important at that point. He made a career out of that. 10 years of a soft and stupid football team.

It took a Garrett thread to get Idgit out of hibernation......go figure.
Wizard Spells:

"Summon Idgit"
School: Conjuration
Level: 1
Components: Somatic
Casting Time: 1 Round
Range: Infinite
Duration: Variable (how long do you want to argue?)
Effect: One summoned Idgit
Saving Throw: None

Description: To cast this spell a Wizard need only post an internet comment criticizing Jason Garrett's tenure as Head Coach of the Dallas Cowboys. It will summon one Idgit who will debate the Wizard about the merits of Jason Garrett's achievements as long as the Wizard wishes to engage. Once the Wizard ceases to engage the Idgit will disappear back into the Cosmos.
