Head coach Jason Garrett pulled a "Jerry Jones" on Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.
The much-maligned Garrett has taken plenty of flak from both fans and media, being labeled a "puppet" coach who never stands up for himself when it's time to. This is a disgustingly inaccurate narrative, as Garrett's footprint can be found throughout the current personnel of the Cowboys. As a reminder he doesn't play Pinocchio to Jones' Geppetto, he made an alternate call on Ezekiel Elliot this week, saying the rookie running back will play in Game 3 against the Seattle Seahawks.

This is as silly as the other story. If Jones didn't want Garrett to play Elliott, he would tell Garrett not to play Elliott and Garret would comply because Jerry is boss.

Too many writers are putting far more into this than anything that was said. No decisions had been made about whether Elliott would play or not until Garrett said he would. If Jones had said Elliott would not play Thursday and Garrett had come back and said it's his decision to make and he's playing him, then we'd have a story.

When it has to do with injury, no it's not. The GM has to protect team assets based on information he recieves from the team doctors and trainers. Coaches may have some input. Outside of that, yes it's all the coach decision because that goes into the area of strategy.

I dunno. When it comes to injury it's up to the doctors, and if a guy is cleared by the doctors I bet a lot more NFL coaches are deciding when he should play than GMs. You may be right, but coaches actually see the players day in and day out more than anybody, rehabbing, practicing, etc, and playing time is a coach's domain anyway so it's hard for me to imagine a GM wanting to make that call.

I am just excited to see Elliott play. 6-8 carries is all I need.

It is not writers it is fans making claims that Garrett has no say, no control over anything he just stands on the sidelines. I get sick of it after a while. These moron will blame Garrett for the offense unless the offense is producing then it is all Linehan. Sorry for the rant but stupidity and Hypocrites hack me off. lol

I don't care about people point fingers but it really is stupid to only cast blame yet so into themselves to give credit. 2014 that was not Garrett yet in 2015 it was all Garrett. lol

This will be the one time where a player comes out and gets hurt and then the fans hang him for it.

We have lost more guys at practice than in the games this pre season. I don't want the Cowboys to halt practice it is something a football team must do. Getting real snaps in a live game means something as well since you can't replicate it on the practice field. It is a physical game played by physical men and while I hope we can get out without any major injuries I also understand it is part of the work that must be done to get players ready for the season.
