I'm taking all bets ;) .

And yeah, Free starts as well. And we might have a new LG (50% sure of that; Iupati if he's available).

Oh yeah, I should add that from watching the games, when Hatcher is healthy and on, he's a much better player than Spears. As solid in the run game, and cause more Havoc in the backfield.

Well then they need to start that push right now. Put in the work this off-season and come into camp in tip top shape and ready to go.

With respect to LG, even if we draft Iupati, I don't think he starts the first game of the regular season (unless there is an injury to Kosier).

I don't think Iupati would start until mid-season or the last quarter of the season (at the earliest).

EDIT: I like Iupati as a player, but he still needs quite a bit of refinement in his pass blocking. It will come, but it's going to take a bit of time.

Hatcher played at less than 100% last year. And I think he will play better this year. I suspect he will still be in on rushing downs for now. Unless Spears is going somewhere.

This has been my suspicion for a while... I think Wade is meh on Spears and likes Hatcher. He talked about how he thought he was ready to break out a couple of times, and then he got hurt. It kind of reminds me of the way he talked about Miles.

I also think they like Bowen but to stay in more that nickel down rusher position.

They need him to step up. It's Year #4, and they desperately need to get some sort of pass rush from their DE's because Igor and Spears provide absolutely nothing as a tandem in pass rush.

I think there's a chance he could start. Based on the landscape of the draft, Pittsburgh, San Francisco, and Green Bay would likely all love to trade for a player of Kosier's caliber.

I mean to say that I don't think Iupati will be ready to start from Day 1. Later on in the year, quite possibly.

Has he? I don't recall this. My impression of Hatcher has been that he's been largely passed by Bowen (who's played above expectations). It'd be great if the team really likes both guys, and I'd feel particularly good about Wade thinking one of the DL already on the roster is capable of breaking out.

Why not Stephen Bowen. Personally I was never high on him till this year, but he outplayed Hatcher (who I'm a bigger fan of)

Unfortunately, Hatcher always seems to be hurt. He plays through it to his credit.

Why the love for Hatcher? I don't remember him doing one thing this year. :laugh2:

I can think of a few times I noticed Spears in the backfield or making a good play, but nothing from Hatcher.

I just remember reporters asking Wade why Hatcher was playing better and Wade defending him by saying that well you know, he'd had a couple of operations and it took him a while to come back from that... And like with Miles, sometimes we didn't even know about these injuries at the time.

I also remember how in '08 when he got that bad hamstring pull/tear in camp that Wade was saying how the light had just come on for him right when that happened and set him back.

I dunno, I've just always gotten the sense that Wade likes him and thinks he has a lot of ability. I'm not insisting he'll start, but I wouldn't be surprised if he got every opportunity to do so.

Does cutting Flo and having Free start at LT scare everyone as much as it does me? I have visions of Tony Romo getting crushed. I really do not want Free as our starting LT at this point. How good is the kid from Baltimore? Is he a top quality LT for the next 7-10 years? If so I would give up our 1st in a heartbeat.

It scares me to death if we cut Flo. But I don't think we have to cut him.

The monetary considerations are the same if Free starts and Flo sits as it is if they were reversed.

Good point. After rewatching video of Free I am not sold. He may be a big time player eventually, but I do not think he has earned the starting LT job just yet.

As much as I am hoping for it...and been the biggest supporter/proponent of drafting him...It's looking more and more unlikely that Iupati will still be around by the time we draft at #27. He was never a secret by any means...but his combine performance further boosted his reputation; lessening the chance he will be available for us unless we trade up to get him.

Iupati is the PERFECT player for us, and addresses a position of need...so I hope I am wrong.

It's awful hard to see a big rush from 3-4 DEs. They just aren't a lot of big and powerful run stopping DEs on the market who can also rush the passer well. A bull rush is about all they can do and still do their job to stop the run and cover offensive linemen.

I don't know why people can't get that thru their heads.
