I'm taking all bets ;) .

And yeah, Free starts as well. And we might have a new LG (50% sure of that; Iupati if he's available).

Oh yeah, I should add that from watching the games, when Hatcher is healthy and on, he's a much better player than Spears. As solid in the run game, and cause more Havoc in the backfield.

At this point I'll give you two out of three. I think the Cowboys would love a second for Spears. If the Cowboys stay put at 27 and an OL or DB they like isnt there, I could easily see Odrick. I like Hatcher but I still think he is better suited for a 4-3.

I say he starts............

Right where he left off. On the bench behind Spears and Bowen.

Good point. After rewatching video of Free I am not sold. He may be a big time player eventually, but I do not think he has earned the starting LT job just yet.

I've seen enough of him from both preseason games, the last Commanders game in 07 against Andre Carter and the Vikings game against Allen (he had just one whiff btw, and the first 2 fails were on Witten) to know that he can be everything Gaither's been for the Ravens and what Flo has been for us the past 2 years- don't know about 07 though.

It's awful hard to see a big rush from 3-4 DEs. They just aren't a lot of big and powerful run stopping DEs on the market who can also rush the passer well. A bull rush is about all they can do and still do their job to stop the run and cover offensive linemen.

I don't know why people can't get that thru their heads.

Yeah plus 3-4 DE's are taught not to overpursue. Their only responsibility is maintaining blockers and closing gaps. You don't want a 3-4 DE that's using swim moves to the outside, that defeats the entire purpose. Some people don't understand that

Hatcher is as ineffective as Junior Siavii. He's done nothing since his rookie year and allw e hear about is his pass rush skills. Well i've barely seen them at all. And to think he can play the run as well as Spears is just a dreamers fantasy.

And to think we finished 4th in run D with those guys getting 20 snaps a game

cmon man, Hatcher plays 90% of his snaps in OBVIOUS passing situations in our nickel front. I doubt he's the reason behind our strong run game lol

How bout Siavii? The fact that our run D doesn't drop off when those guys come in played a large part in us ranking so high in run D as opposed to past years.

Take for example the Vikings game. Those guys ran the ball on about 70% of their plays in the 4th quarter and Siavii actually played more run downs than Ratliff. Still, they could find no running room and Peterson kept getting stuffed.

Believe me when I say this, as someone who watches the line play religiously, Hatcher when healthy is no slouch and is actually better than Spears.

Why the love for Hatcher? I don't remember him doing one thing this year. :laugh2:

I can think of a few times I noticed Spears in the backfield or making a good play, but nothing from Hatcher.

Never did much and he was hurt. Great combo. He better turn it on or he'll be gone after this season.

They need him to step up. It's Year #4, and they desperately need to get some sort of pass rush from their DE's because Igor and Spears provide absolutely nothing as a tandem in pass rush.
That is not there primary objective! DE in the 3-4 are suppose to stop the run and take on blockers to allow our LBs to get to the QB. Spears has done an excellent job at that over the years. Last season was his best to date! Spears and Igor will both be the starters next season though Hatcher will get more opportunities!

I don't know if Hatcher starts, but if he can play the run effectively he brings much more athleticism to the front than Spears ever could. I also suspect he could put up 3-4 sacks a year if given more snaps. It is his time to show what he can do as he is likely playing for a contract extension.

I would love it if Free starts. Ideally for this year it would be Free at RT and Flo at LT. Then I think next year it is Free at LT and someone who we draft this year or Brewster at RT. You just can't give up on a young, athletic freak with long arms like Free at the LT spot. I think he owns it for us for the next 8 years.

Siavii is okay but I would still love a 350 pound monster NT for short yardage situations like Kemoteau(?sp). Unfortunately, I think Cody is off the board when we pick in the 2nd round which is where I think he should be picked. Furthermore, we have a much bigger need at OL and need to slant our early picks in that direction if possible.
