Jason Peters is old, but yet still is productive. He has experience playing both G/T and will come cheap. He could provide nice insurance if either Smith or McGovern struggle.
How long will it take to get him in playing shape?

I would be in favor of this move providing it was not too expensive.

With our cap space, if we are making a move I'd like it to be for a player better than McGovern. Not an if McGovern struggles guy. And for the record I think Jason Peters at OG is better than McGovern and would do this if no one better can be had

It does make a lot of sense. It probably comes down to if he really wants to play, does he want to play a full season, and if so is Dallas the right spot?

If they bring in a vet players, such as Peters or Fisher, they will wait until after game 1.
When his salary is not guaranteed. And yes, all teams do this. It is not Stephen being cheap.

They may want to see how their plan goes game 1.
Here is where I strongly disagree. If we are bringing in a backup I'm with you. If we are bringing in Fisher it is to start and there is no chance I'm bypassing a game of a starting LT just so his contract isn't guaranteed.

I read some comments from Peters that made me more interested in this option. He talked about how he could come in and mentor younger guys or sit back and let others lead. Whatever the team needed.

He showed he still had something in the tank last year. Willing to play inside or out.

Yeah, he's 40 but it is rare that you get the chance to add future HoFers

I understand that that and I agree. I was just pointing out that is a possibility as to why they are waiting.

If Peters is signing for anything near what the Bears gave him last year then it is not worth it to wait.

Agreed.

“But right now, either way is good for me because I can teach or I can sit back and listen and learn from other veterans who have played this game, too,” he added. “So either way is good

Stop it. Stephen's not going to bring in some 40 year old FA when he already has young bucks to fill the void.
Move on already....
Peters played for under $2 million last season. He is what the Jones Boys want

Yep not much Jason Peters hasn't seen I'd be happy with any help we could get at this point. Could it really be worse than Barrett Hicks and Vea beating on our rookie with the injured ankle playing a new position.

Yeah for goodness sake Jerry save the penny and watch our O line get violated
