The Joneses are stubborn. It appears they are looking for cut players. They want to save that 20 million. There is still time and also he would start out as a backup.

2 million is nothing in the nflThe Joneses are stubborn. It appears they are looking for cut players. They want to save that 20 million.
Peters is a LT thoughWith our cap space, if we are making a move I'd like it to be for a player better than McGovern. Not an if McGovern struggles guy. And for the record I think Jason Peters at OG is better than McGovern and would do this if no one better can be had
Jason Peters is old, but yet still is productive. He has experience playing both G/T and will come cheap. He could provide nice insurance if either Smith or McGovern struggle.
Peters played for under $2 million last season. He is what the Jones Boys want
If they bring in a vet players, such as Peters or Fisher, they will wait until after game 1.
When his salary is not guaranteed. And yes, all teams do this. It is not Stephen being cheap.
They may want to see how their plan goes game 1.
For the bulk of his career yes, but Didn’t he play Guard the last 2 years? Even in Philly he was re-signed to play guard his last year but injury moved him back to OT. My understanding is teams are looking at him as a guard nowPeters is a LT though
I honestly don't know. You may well be right. For the bulk of his career yes, but Didn’t he play Guard the last 2 years? Even in Philly he was re-signed to play guard his last year but injury moved him back to OT. My understanding is teams are looking at him as a guard now
Not if they don't want the player to hit waivers.not going to happen until after week one when contracts aren't guaranteed.....all these rumors of Dallas trying to trade for a tackle is just nonsense....
He Earned under 2 million last yrDon't know if the bolded part is true. I would think one of the reasons no one has signed him is because he won't come cheap.

Well he still remains on the street, Either he takes what is offered or retiresAgain, he was coming off a poor season. His value (at least in his mind) may be up because he started and played pretty well for Chicago last year. Unless he just needs whatever he can get, I can't see him signing for less than double what he made last year.

I read some comments from Peters that made me more interested in this option. He talked about how he could come in and mentor younger guys or sit back and let others lead. Whatever the team needed.
He showed he still had something in the tank last year. Willing to play inside or out.
Yeah, he's 40 but it is rare that you get the chance to add future HoFers
