Jason Peters says Eagles OL is better than Dallas OL

When Philly had their entire OL healthy the LAST 2 years, they arguably had the best OL in the league. Many would argue the Dallas OL was better last year but I think it's fair to say that some of the "experts" out there would have picked Philly. After losing Mathis and Herremans, that will no longer be the case.

Enough - let's just wait till we play.

I know one thing, their DL gave us a lot of problems last year.

And there lies the heart of the matter.

When we play them it won’t really matter if our OL is better than their OL.

What will matter is our OL being better than their DL (and of course our DL being better than their OL).

haha...ok back to the Eagles guy. Well ex Eagles guy.

Chip is great. He will single handily ruin that team.

Bet Michael Irvin will change his prediction soon of them being a fav for the East.
I want to see Irvin's eyes if he picks the Eagles. If I see a twinkle in his eyes, I think he's saying Eagles to inspire the Cowboys.

Jason Peters is a 7 time pro bowler, 2x first team all pro, 4x second team all pro....

The guy is probably going into the hall of fame.... He's better than Tyron Smith at this point. Mathis was better than Martin at this point. Lane is much better than Free and probably only getting better. Herremans was probably a wash with Leary, though Herremans was probably a bit better. Jason Kelce is probably better than Travis Frederick.

The key for our offensive line is the fact that it is much younger.

I feel Dallas has the best OL in the NFL period !

Thank you for the like Manster but I can not take credit here. This one belongs to ABQJr. He texted it to me and I thought it was funny so I posted it.

I love that our guys don't even want the rookie boasting about how great they are. Please let them keep talking. The same way that loud moth running back they had used to talk.

They are definitely a good OL, no doubt about it. But better? Eh, I could see someone making that argument, but we've got an OL that will be great for a decade.

Yup.

Kelce and Fred are very different players. Kelce moves better and is better in pass pro. Fred is much stronger and better in the run game. I think where Fred gets the nod is, no center in the league can stone 350-pound nose tackles by himself like Fred can, and no center in the league reads the defense like Fred. Really, when talking about making offensive calls (not just line calls) and blocking on the interior, it's not close.

Mathis may have been better than Martin at one point in their respective careers, but not now.

Herremans, really? He was the weak link of the Philly OL last year and, IMO, far and away the least capable of the 10 OL in the discussion.

I really love the fact that our guys are the hardest working position group on the team and don't really seem to care about the hyperbole. They set the tone for the team, in every way, and IMHO, that's nothing but good.

Kelce and Frederick might be a wash, but I think that's generous toward the Eagles. I'd take Frederick. Anybody saying Peters is better than Tyron Smith must have taken NFL Sundays off last season. Peters had his worst year in Philly last year. No way is he better than Tyron. This isn't 2012.

Their RT may be better but only if Collins doesn't play there. He'd walk in better than Lane Johnson. The Eagles Gs aren't worth mentioning.

If I was an Eagles fan I'd be over there "trolling" about how bad our Gs are. To a bunch of "do you know more than the team?" responses.

Sound familiar?

It's not even a given that Collins can play tackle, let alone be better than Lane Johnson who struggled as a rookie (I've seen him attributed with as many as 10 sacks allowed) but improved a ton as a sophomore (1 sack allowed and 2 hits).

Good grief -- if Jason Peters' idea of his Philly OL being superior to ours doesn't totally reek of home team bias, then I surely dunno what does. Most any team member probably wouldn't be disposed to say anything to the contrary about their own team. I can't see anything newsworthy here. I think desperation for something of interest really appears to be running amuck at this late stage of the offseason.

From an eagles fan in the comments

A truly delirious (and despicable) fanbase

Here's what's funny about the Eagles fans.

As a defense to this whole Peters comment, they all love quoting Pro Football Focus. As if PFF is the end all be all to this discussion.

Then they turn around and say Mathis was overrated and won't be missed. Even though Mathis was one of the top ranked OGs by PFF. Apparently then, PFF has no clue what they are talking about.

So which is it Beagles fans?

Mathis was first team all pro last year. Was he injured this year? Absolutely. Doesn't make Martin better than him.

And yes, Kelce is better than Frederick who still to this day struggles a bit in pass pro.

And Martin was first team this year. What's your point?

And Frederick was first team C. Smith was first team this year with Peters.

So the idea that Mathis > Martin, Peters > Smith, Kelce > Frederick is a stretch.
