Jason Williams

Amazing isn't it?

We can't draft WR's high because according to Jerry they take 2-3 years to develop and won't contribute immediately.\

BUT, we can draft players at other positions whose main role early is to just be a special teamer.

Does this make sense to anyone else?

The thing is I dont think they liked the talent that was in this draft and the reality is our starting 22 was pretty much in place.

So thats why these guys main role was to be special teams players.

Jerry shouldn't have come out and said that though. But we added depth and improved our special teams in this draft.

Kiper had him at 237, my Lindy's mag 238. The team had him at that or possibly 240. Many were comparing him to Kevin Burnett who is a little undersized for the inside and had trouble putting on weight.

Yeah, I guess it's just that visually, 246 is creeping awfully close to 250, which is pretty big for any ILB. And to me, J-Will looks really lean, almost like a tailback or something, so that surprised me.

But still, say he never gains another pound... That's 246 moving like it's been shot out of a gun. Can't wait to see this guy blitzing and hitting RBs in the hole.

I've heard they liked Deon Butler in the 4th round, but Seattle took him in 3rd. Sometimes they just go earlier than you expect. But finding Ogletree makes up for not getting an early wr imo.

Burnett is the same injury prone guy in San Diego as he was here. The guy is hurt again, on crutches right now with an ankle injury and no timetable on his return. He would probably be hurt if he was here anyways.
I can't remember the last guy to leave the Cowboys for so called greener pastures only to fade.

Burnett, Canty, Julius, TO, even A. Bryant didn't do so well but for a few months.

As much as we give him **** around here, Bobby Carpenter is actually having a solid season as a coverage nickel LB, and nobody can deny that fact. The only way I see Jason Williams playing at LB is if Carp gets hurt. What the team needs to do is get Williams ready for special teams. That's the role he was drafted for immediatley anyways.

But he's a huge liability in the running game. Teams audible to match him up in the running game. He's horrible.

:laugh2: You need to look again. Was pretty much directly responsible for one of those TD's Atlanta scored. Have seen him whiff on tackles, shy away from contact, or get pushed around countless times. Same old, same old except instead of him being inactive, we see it every week.

Carpenter, by far, is our best coverge LB. And I agree he's been playing solid in his role.

The logic at WR was that we needed starters contribution right away, hence the trade for Roy. Its reasonable logic even though Roy hasn't come through to this point.

While at LB we had enough front-liners for this year and needed a future starter more than a current one.

Whether one agrees or not (just a wild guess that you may not :) ) may be a different matter.

All the draft magazines have old info. Jason Williams weighed in at 241 and 242 at his pro days.
