this is way premature and a big What if, but i was just curious about something and that is about Jason Williams. He was drafted to play a 3-4 LB spot, and if Wade gets fired at the end of the year and the new coach wants to use a 4-3 what do u see happening with Williams? What would you see happening with this since he is still learning the 3-4 and his development would be stunted even more since he would have to learn the 4-3? Just Curious.

while the odds of a new coach aren't insignificant, the odds for us to get out of the 3-4 is astronomical IMO.

With his speed, I think he's actually one of the few who would be fine in a 43. It's the bigger, slower guys like Bradie that I don't think would have any place in a 43.

Really though, I'd love to see him worked in for Carpenter in the nickel of this defense. Damn shame he got that injury in preseason.

with his size and speed i think he would be fine in either outside or inside in the 4-3.

his issue is just being really green b/c of what he was asked to do in school.

idk, maybe i'm naive, but i think he'll become a good player for us.

i don't really see Jerry moving to a 4-3 anyway, but that's just my opinion.

the only benefit to a 4-3 for me would be that we'd have Ware and Spencer rushing 98% of the time and not being wasted in coverage.

Jerry has said that the Cowboys will be a 3-4 team for years to come. Switching to a 4-3 is highly unlikely.

I do not know ..... but I would love .... absolutely love for us to go back to the 4-3.

I hate the 3-4.

I'm not sure I would be comfortable with a 1st year converted DE running around in coverage.

He wasn't a DE in college...

But yeah, I'm sure they're afraid he'd make mental mistakes. Tough time of the year to throw a rookie into the fire.

It's funny when people speak without knowing. lmao.

He was nowhere near being a DE in college.

Which is why, outside of an injury to Carpenter, he won't see time on the field. Lots of people can't stand the guy, but an injury to Carpenter would not be a good thing.

I think Jason Williams could play in either scheme. However Dallas doesn't have the personnel to go back to the 4-3 scheme at the moment.

We're going to be a 3-4 team for quite awhile no matter who coaches here. Get used to it.

With Ware locked up long-term, the Cowboys aren't switching out of the 3-4 anytime soon whether Wade stays or not.

And the only thing that concerns me is Jerry said it.

I don't want to change fronts and feel it's unlikely, but with Jerry who the hell knows?

Many observers felt Jason Williams' unique position made him next to impossible to evaluate as a 4-3 or 3-4 linebacker. Williams stood up on the line of scrimmage over a guard the majority of the time as a blitzer.

Keith Brooking has been so much more than I ever hoped for as a veteran free agent signing, but I am looking forward to hopefully getting the X involved in some capacity next season.

I also get happy thinking about Brandon Williams and Stephen Hodge coming back healthy in '10.

As long as we stay with the 3-4, all we really need is a legit reserve to groom at SILB behind Bradie James to team up with JXW in the future.

Jerry has bought into the 3-4 scheme and there is absolutely ZERO chance he'll change his mind with Ware being the highest paid player in the franchises history. Live with it folks, the 3-4 is here to stay.

I know i will get blasted for this, but i still think this team needs to go back to the 4-3. Put ware at RDE, and primarly let him rush. Put Igor at RDT, Ratlff at LDT, and Spears at LDE, junior, bowen and hatcher will support as backups in rotation.

then you put jason willams as a weak outside linebacker, spencer as a strong side linebacker and bradie as the MLB, with Brooking helping if brooking comes back. then you draft another good linebacker for backup, with Stephen Hodge as backup too on inside. Then you trade bobby carpenter to miami and get what you can for him.

No, bradie can loose some weight get down to about 234 and he will be fine. Brooking can backup if he wants too.

4-3 is the way to go im pretty sure,

it also depends on who the defensive coordinator is next year and who the head coach is.

That is true, but if jerry jones is finally forced to get another top head coach next year, and a great defensive coordinator to go along wiht that, the defense could change.

think about this, the jets use the 3-4 with great blitz packages along with pittsburgh right?

ever since we changed to the 3-4 defense, players have over and over proved inept at learning the schemes,

so in retrospect you can get better heat on the offense with 4 down linemen
i also think that brandon williams will make a big contribution next year to, in some cases spelling ware on obvious passing downs, brandon williams is an elite pass rusher plan and simple

Ware cannot play with his hand on the ground for an entire game.If you put Ware at end you will see him get mauled as the season goes on.Ware playing down in nickel is one thing, but when you do it full time that's another story.
