Jason Williams??

There is one school of thought that WR is one of the more difficult positions to transition into the NFL at. Just sayin... ;)

Anyone hear how this guy is doing?

Is he not impressing the powers that be? A secret weapon to be activated for the superbowl? Imprisoned in a hole dug out of Jerry's basement waiting for his skin to be harvested?

Seriously, I have not heard about his progress recently.

He's a rookie from a small school.

Where would you have him play right now? Who's spot should he be taking?

This guy is just another future slam dunk.

He has all the athletic ability you would want and he is smart. They will just polish his skill and technique and it's a done deal.

The word was he didn't play well the game where Ware was hurt, and didn't play much in the first half, the New Orleans game I believe. Wade said he didn't look very good.

I heard the coaches were actually not happy with his performance and thought hed AT LEAST be a ST contributor by now, but that hes struggling in that area as well.

Welcome to the Old School NFL.

We have a deep team.

You actually have to earn your way on the field.

I wouldn't expect him to ever develop into a starting NFL player. If he does, great. But it's not likely.

Are we talking about Victor Butler?

I think people are caught up in his 4.4 time, which was inflated because of the surface he ran on. He won't see the field next year for sure. If he develops into a small role player beyond that, I'd be happy.

As for Wade not playing rookies, people are crazy. He's played a large number of rookies since he's been here. But by and large, he doesn't have to because this is a talented team.

Why not get caught up in it? This team develops players like this all the time.

His size and speed + Wades blitz schemes puts him in a high position for success.

His speed is overrated. He'd probably run a 4.60 or higher at the combine, which for a 6'1", 240 lb. linebacker isn't all that impressive (the 4.4 was ran on a gymnasium floor). It's not bad, just not impressive.

I remember when Parcells was here, there was a notion that he was a linebacker expert. If he drafted a linebacker, the guy had to be good, we were told.

I'm building a similar confidence in Wade.

Will Williams ever be anything good? Heck if I know. I certainly wouldn't recommend trusting my talent judgment at this point. But I think he has a lot of what you'd look for from a small-school project. He has the build, the athleticism, character and he was a big-time playmaker at his -- albeit small -- school.

I think he's a decent enough prospect for Wade to get his hands on.

He's quick too though.

I'm pretty confident in the scouting department as well. I just think he was a reach as a 3rd rounder. He's a LONG term project, and I don't like taking those before the 4th round.

In recent history, 3rd round linebackers have been much more "proven" going into the draft. The Patriots get a guy like Shawn Crable at linebacker in the 3rd round and we get this project with an inflated 40 time. Just disappointing.
