Jason Witten separated his shoulder early in the first half. He was examined and given a painkiller injection in the locker room before returning to the game.

"I got it pretty good," he said.

Witten finished with 7 catches for 110 yards.

Sounds OK to me!

SOmething with his ac joint. Happened on the first posession. He missed one play. The guy is tough as nails.

Flozell adams had some sort of neck stinger also and only missed one play.

My hats off to them.

He left the game and went into the locker room. But he came back in to the game and had that big catch.

Wasn't it whitten as a rookie broke his Jaw and BP gave him crap about missing time? it's kinda funny how players who bought into BP's system seem to be able to play thru pain such as witten does often...

It depends on the degree of separation. I currently have a separated shoulder, but I can function as I do normally, albeit with a considerable amount of pain. I don't wear a brace or support of any kind for it, it just hurts like big mad dog. I have full range of mobility, just with a wince or two and maybe a cuss word or two. So, unless Whitten can't move his arm, he'll be all right. Players have gone whole seasons with varying degrees of separation, or Kevin Bacon, or...

Anyone whoever had a shoulder problem will tell ya that this will be a problem all year. You need a month sometimes two months of rest before it goes away.

Between this, the broken jaw as a rookie, running minus his helmet against Philly last year --- he's quickly developing a rep as one of the toughest Cowboys ever.

When it's all said and done, I don't think it will be outlandish to put him near, or at, the top of that list. As good as he is, he's even tougher. Really sets a tone.

If I remember, Witten didn't miss any time because of the jaw.

Depending on the severity of the separation, it can be very difficult to catch the ball (over your head, facing the ball) with that injury.

I had an ac joint separation my freshman year in college and I simply couldn't catch the ball if it was thrown over my head, while facing the QB. The ball would just hit my arm and knock it out of the way and I had no control over it. Now, everyine else I could catch, no problem.

Heh, I remember that. Parcells told the story afterward about how Witten didn't even see the trainer, he just stood there with his jaws shut, blood filling his mouth while he tried to walk it off.

Guy is the greatest TE the Cowboys have ever had .....

And his career isn't even half over.

They need to hurry and find a young receiver to pair with him, Romo, Barber, and F. Jones when age finally catches T.O.

(though it looks like T.O. may outrun it a few more years)

what was really cool was Witten actually ran onto the field and into the
huddle from the tunnel after getting treated...didnt go to the bench
just came running out and went in the game...not sure if they showed that on the tv broadcast.

and Emmitt said we have no leaders lol... this was an emmitt smith type gutsy peformance like the game he had against the Giants all those years ago. Witten is a plain beast hes now my favorite player on the team!
