Man, this guy is a beast. There is no question who the best TE in the league is anymore.

And today, another great game.

After today, he will most likely be among the top 5 in receptions and yards among ALL PLAYERS... Not just TE's. Thats very impressive to me.

I just felt something needed to be said, I haven't seen his name too much around here.

He's the only player in the league (any position) with at least six catches and at least 67 yards in every game this season.

While I understand your point (consistency), those are some arbitrary numbers you've picked out.

I was thinking the same thing.

Was there someone with 5 catches and 67 yards or 5 catches and 65 yards in every game.

Seems a little pick-and-choose.

How about this for non-arbitrary numbers... ;)

Witten leads the entire NFL in receptions with 35.

He is on pace for 112 catches and 1414 yards. Both would be NFL records for the TE position.

If you compare him only to the rest of the TEs, here's how he stacks up.

Receptions
Jason Witten - 35
Chris Cooley - 25
Tony Gonzalez - 21
Bo Scaife - 20
Owen Daniels/Kellen Winslow - 19

Yards
Jason Witten - 442
Chris Cooley - 288
Tony Scheffler - 259
Owen Daniels - 238
Bo Scaife - 226

To put into context just how badass Jason Witten has been this year...

If next week, Witten was somehow held catchless by Arizona...

While Chris Cooley went off to the tune of 9 catches for 153 yards...

Witten would still be #1 in both TE categories.

Wow... maybe its just me... I didnt see that as an "arbitrary" point. Seemed to be "6 catches per game" which is alot.... then throw in the "67" yards = averaging a "1st down plus" per catch SIX times a game.

Here is the negative part of these stats... A few of those receptions should have been made by our Wr's... And I guess we can't blame T.O. Someone else must show a little more consistency...

But hell, yeah, Witten is maybe our best player right now on the entire team.

A lot has to do with him being Romo's primary read a lot of the time. Romo will lock on to Witten, and know where hes throwing before the ball is snapped. Great that have such chemistry, but I think some bigger plays down the field are sacrificed to Witten for a sure 8.

That may be correct.

The offense is not firing on all plays yet.. Yet...

When they get fully involved we will look like the beginning of last year.

I don't expect us to be in complete rythem on the O side till say about week 12 the ride it hade and fast through the playoffs.

Inetersting - the Giants look like us last year at this time.
We look like the Giants.....

Better to peak at the end of the year and the playoffs not in week 13.

Also th Commanders are really putting on a show.

I disagree. Romo targeted Owens in the Commanders game a lot more than Witten but it was harder to complete passes to him than to Witten because he is running deeper routes and is usually double-covered. I don't have the stats but I believe that is the case in most games.

Owens is Romo's primary target in most games, not Witten.

Neither T.O. or Witten would be the players they are or have the numbers they do if they didn't have a good quarterback.
Yet 1/2 the threads this morning are ready to throw Tony under the bus.
It would really worry me if he started taking these threads to heart and get an inferiority complex and not be able to throw a pass at all.
Where would Witten and T.O. be with out Tony's confidence?
I often wonder how many of these desk jockey's could face the pressure of having to find a hole among eleven guys out there.
Makes me sick , I could rant all day.

Witten's on a pace to break the all-time record for TE receptions in a season, in about the 3rd quarter of the 15th game.
