I think Williams was amazed to be that alone with only the goal line in front of him, so he reacted by slowing down as he entered the end zone and holding the ball out.

It is taunting, but I'm not a big fan of that one being called. I think it's different when a player gets in the face of another player and provokes a reaction. I don't really consider what he did much different than many end-zone celebration.

That being said, it is against the rules (even if the rule is stupid), so you've got to know better than to do that.

Look at about the 2:36 mark. The blocker (#9) sent out to lead the runner is flexing his arms because the runner will go in the end zone untouched for a TD. That's classic taunting being ignored.

That's not taunting. It wasn't directed at a specific player. He just waved the runner on.

Taunting is handled in game by the penalty call. How ridiculous to afterward fine someone for it. I get fines for nasty hits etc, but taunting? Freaking babies.

I don't know. It looks to me like he was just saying to Skattebo, come on, we've got it and then celebrating it. But that is part of the problem I have with the taunting penalty. I think unless it is something that is aggressive, such as standing over someone and shouting at them after you tackle them or throwing the football at a player, then it shouldn't be called. There are lots of end-zone celebrations that could taunt the opponent. We've seen players try to break up group celebrations in the past for that reason, because the opponent was rubbing it in.

I just don't agree with the rule as written. I think it was correctly called, but I think it was an overcorrection by the league.

It doesn't matter if it wasn't directed at a specific player. It was directed at the entire Cowboys defense. He was flexing his muscles, not waving the runner on. You sound like a Giants fan.

You're not even supposed to face the opponent's sideline and make a gesture of any type. I don't care if the refs call it taunting; just be evenhanded about it.

Lax parenting and poor team culture causes that...not an athlete's celebration as a grown man. Kids want to do many things that adults can and they shouldn't. Learn to discriminate.

What is a celebratory display vs immature POS? "Immature POS" is in itself an overreaction and a symptom of how - perhaps - you were parented. Seek help before you offer it.

flexing in another teams face is being an immature POS. There's numerous other examples of acting out that could how being an immature POS. Losing an argument and showing it by telling someone to "seek help" and implying an insult to their parents is an example of an immature POS.
