People don't know what to think about this defense yet. It has injuries and suspensions yet it's been one of the best in the league thus far. I think what is helping them is Sean Lee being healthy and a lot of those young draft picks maturing.

Hate to support him because he is indeed moronic but I listened to him this AM too and he singled out Lee for how great and disruptive he was. He said he is in the class of the best with Keuchly and Khalil Mack from Raiders. Not sure where the disconnect. He was generous in his praise for Lee which shocked me.

4th in Aikman Efficiency Rating on D, trailing the Jets, Broncos and Panthers.
AER is a good combination of stats, as it usually reflects points per drive/passer rating pretty closely, even though it doesn't use per-drive stats. It would be even more accurate (correlate more highly with winning percentage) if it replaced first downs per game and third-down percentage with drive success rate.

It's still a whole lot better than total yards though.

I'd love to see a Lester Hayes breakdown on Ron Jaworskis game.

Jaworski and Tom Jackson both hate Dallas. (as does NFLN's Marshall Faulk). I don't pay much attention to what they say

Funny quote from him this morning.

"Dallas' defense is no good, but Marinelli has them playing well." What?

"Shawn Lee flashes." again, What? I guess he "flashed" quite a bit there sunday.

Interesting.

He was on PTI and said our defense was disciplined and knows where to be.

Only 3 "experts" out of 14 at ESPN pick the Cowboy over the Falcons. That is the same number we had against the Eagles.

2 weeks ago everyone was on the Eagles bandwagon yet we beat them with no Dez in their house. I'm amxious to see what happens next week after we beat Atlanta without Dez AND Romo.

But Chip is still a genius while Marinelli tore through that offense like paper machete.
Refrigerator please.

If you go by stats, you ll stand on the stats and say "everything he said is wrong" and you would be correct in the stat world.

in the real world, if he does say "the defense is not that good, but Rod is making them play better" he is correct. By reality if you look at our defense, you see Orlando out, Hardy not there, Rolondo out, etc etc. Than on paper its not up to par, BUT because Rod is soooo good, yes they are playing better than they are, as they did last year. He is absolutely correct, lots of props to Rod and getting more out of the talent.

if you look at said talent and took our CBs and said during the preseason, you want to match up Julio vs who?" Sure, you will get some looks and some laughter and probably a text from Julio saying "you funny" But than the reality of it is, "good enough to win" so we take it happily.

our defense by different sections is really not the "whos who" of the defense world. Yet, how they play is a tribute to our coaches, to get out of the squad what you will.

Ok, Lee is different but we dont know if hes going to give us the whole season, and if you take the opposite, chances are better. Wierder things have happened. I also think as fans we pump up more than whats really there, we all know the players that come to mind. SO while stats tell one story, they only tell part of the story.

Lets keep it in perspective too, did anyone think this would happen if you have to look at the NFL as a whole? Most likely not. We knew the defense would be better. Save a td, a few more turn overs, but if you were tell anyone who knows the game, the Cowboys would shut down OBJ and Julio, no, reality would have people laughing. I mean lets be serious, Carr and Mo? maybe Carr, maybe, but Mo has been solid and Jones has been playing well.

Do i disagree with what he said, no, you have to look at it in context, some people only speak stats some people are looking at it as a whole and trying to give their opinion. Plus, 2 divisional games on which the times those teams step up is agianst the Cowboys. You had to have seen both the Skins and Giants last night, neitehr team got up to play each other.
